And growing. I like the proportions of the 135i with it's squat stance and short (bmw-like...go figure) overhangs.

You are probably correct

This correct?
The 3197 curb weight on a 128i manual is up to 3260 on this 228i manual. HP is up from 230 to 240, but the 0-60 falls short. 6.1 sec on a manual 128i and now 6.2 on this manual 228i. All these numbers seem reasonable enough.

The big difference between the auto and manual 228 must be due to a huge improvement in the auto transmission.

Cheers!

Which weight is correct on the m235i manual?

Im seeing 3297 lb unladen in the comparos all the way up to 3505 lbs in the specs

I want the weight to be as close to my 135i as possible and 3505 is getting on the rotund side.

I also can't fathom giving up my manual gear box, but the numbers are starting to make it incredibly hard to keep it.

Seeing the M performance parts might warrant a trip to my dealer this weekend but there are still a couple of lingering concerns like weight, steering and those damn blue brakes.

Well as another data point, with the lonely 320, the manual and 8-auto 0-60 times are exactly 7.1.
Therefore if BMW goes to lengths to keep a 320 and 328 relatively equal for manual/auto 0-60, why penalize a manual 228 so drastically (0.8s) from its 8-auto?
I guess I'm not directly concerned with what that 0.8s feels like on the street, but more the fact that its been artificially de-tuned when its very capable to match the 8-auto given other vehicle specs we see here. Or maybe this new 6MT is actually a bogus improvement? Or maybe it's a way to phase-out manuals to show a significant performance gap?
However, even the M235 manual/auto times are only off 0.1s! My deductive reasoning leads to, hopefully, a typo. :

new review...TMR Motor Sports Test Drive

TMR VERDICT | OVERALL

After numerous laps of Baskerville in the M235i it was clear that this is a lot closer to an M car than BMW would have you believe.

All of the core ingredients are there. Great grip, a talkative chassis, a muscle-bound engine and strong brakes. This is a proper sports car.

Are there any pics specifically of the BMW Body Color M Rocker panel blades option for the 228i?

I ordered a base M235i (only upgrade being coral red leather) will the instrument panel still display the M235i logo on the bottom right at all times or is that only available with the tech package?

Can anyone tell me if on the 228i, other than the differences listed on BMWUSA website, does the M sport have any other advantages over the sportline such as more cooling capacity (I thought I read somewhere that the larger front air intakes on the 328 Msport line were for better cooling capacity--not sure if it has an extra oil cooler). Or anything else? Thanks.
