235i alarm

I made the mistake of ordering a MY15 235i without the alarm. Is there any way i can code the car to give the audible chime when locking/unlocking?

The audible alarm is one of the very few options that didn't come with my car. Can't say I miss it as I never "armed" the audible stuff in previous cars I've owned. We simply get way to many false alarms in our community and I honestly don't think anyone pays attention to them.

But back to the topic. My guess is that your car and mine lack the speaker that blasts out the noise, so it might take more work than just coding.

This is really the one thing that annoys me about this car...I hate not having confirmation that the doors locked. I coded the mirrors to fold when I lock the car but sometimes I dont like them folded.

This is gonna drive me mad. I have been with BMW for three years now and ordered one of the first MY15s we are getting. I just assumed the car would come with it like the 335i and 435i.

It can easily be added by the dealer. Though as the police officer that lives in my building says, it just give thieves one more thing to steal.

Now I'm really waiting to see what mine is like. I got a 2015 228i xi but my CA said nothing about an alarm and I know for a fact I didn't mentiin adding an alarm. I wouldn't mind the lights flashing I find the horn honk annoying and can live without the beep just want to make sure I have some sort of alarm

Are you guys talking about the panic button that sounds the horn continuously or the 90's ambulance alarm that rings if a person even looks at your car? Does it been or sound the horn when you lock the doors if there's no optional alarm?

The alarm is a $400 option. Without the alarm option, the lights can be set to blink when you lock the door but their is no audible notification. The remote is more powerful than it was on my 135 and the locks have worked every time I've pushed the lock button. Mash your foot on the accelerator and all of this option stinginess will be forgiven.

The alarm is not available as a dealer installed accessory. BMW's haven't come with alarm pre-wiring since 2009 model year.

They did the same with Mini Cooper too. Cutting back on wiring at factory to enhance margin.

We tried to add an alarm to my kids Clubman after it was broken into. No pre-wiring and dealers either said no thanks or wanted $900 to install one after production.

Needless to say we went with some "caution alarm" window stickers for $5...

$400 from the factory in retrospect is a hell of a better value.

Pretty sure I didn't order the alarm.

I have the option in the settings menu of the car to turn off/on the audible chirp it makes when I lock the doors. No coding. Maybe a Canadian only model option? Seems strange that the US models wouldn't have this.

Just don't leave anything valuable laying out in plain site and you'll be fine.

If someone were to break into it they still need the key fob to be within a few feet of the steering column to start it, let alone to put it in gear. All the alarm is going to do is annoy you in the middle of the night lol.

Not if you live in certain areas of my city (San Francisco). I've known plenty of folks whose windows were smashed even with no visible goodies to steal. Maybe the criminals think there's something worth stealing in the glove box, under the seats, etc. Or maybe they just want to vandalize nice cars. Who knows what, if anything, is in their heads...

An alarm isn't necessarily to going the prevent the situation, but for a mere $400, I can under why some folks might want to give it shot...

Canadian m235 comes standard with the alarm and hence the audible beep is included when locking/unlocking with key fob

Does the factory one have shock sensors?
It would be nice if you got alerts on your phone through BMW apps

I had mine go off with tilt sensors on a ferry. Aparently it was quite horrendously loud lol.

I just want it for the audible signal to ensure it's locked when I walk away.
