Rear and fronts are DEFINITELY flared.
let me rephrase it in a more precise way... the flare isn't as obvious as that between your car and mine. the step change from the current 2 and the camo mule isn't that obvious in this pic. no biggie

1M was an afterthought. Regular E82 1 series shell over an E9x M3 chassis/track.

I would think it blends in more as the M2 has been designed from the ground up with the F22 coupe shell.

It doesn't look as wide as the M235i racing arches that were on the very early mules, I had kind of hoped these would stay as they looked brilliant, as long as the skirts were matched in.

It does look slightly more conventional in that latest picture.

Yup i agree, hope they retain the more pronounced stepped change/flare from 2 to M2, as per 135 to 1M or 2 to 2Racing

Aaah, that now makes more sense and yes I have to agree with you!
But it could just be camo, there is a definite need for hips if it is again using the M3/M4 setup, just look at how notably wider the rear end looks on the M3 as oppose to the M4, just down to the natural width of the 3 series and the 4 series with the latter being wider.
I think once the camo comes off we will have a much better look at the extent of the additions, I think because of how the bumper is blended it isn't quite as noticeable yet.

Your minds are playing tricks on you. I think it's mostly the camera angle and camo. It appears the rear is still the M235i Racing flare add-on. The fronts are blended, but the rear is the same body work we've seen all along. I wouldn't be surprised if the flare is exactly the same.

Flared too much I think, the front anyway. Makes it look like the door is sunken in. I think I would rather drive an M4 if basing it off the looks on these pics.

Update September 3:

We have added photos of the advanced prototype spotted testing on the Nurburgring.

F87 M2 prototypes have now been spotted with more advanced bodies. Gone is the M235i front fascia from the previous spotted prototypes. The front bumper is now fully camouflaged, indicating that what lies underneath is the production-intent bumper styling.

The previously boxy flared front fenders have been ditched in favor of traditional flared and molded fenders as we no longer see a large body gap from the earlier prototypes. As the fenders have been so widened compared to the standard 2 Series, the sideskirts do not yet fit properly.

There is no sign yet of a potential hood bulge (that's a M235i hood), carbon fiber roof, special trunk/spoiler, nor mirrors, but those may come yet.

As before, we also see the quad exhaust tips, M brakes (which will be painted blue on the production M2), drilled rotors and M limited slip differential.

The M2 will begin production in late Fall 2015, for deliveries in late 2015 - early 2016. It will feature the N55 turbo inline 6 engine (N55B30T0), producing around 370-380 PS (365-375 HP).

Wow finally another update with significant enough changes to satisfy me. Body looks much better now. Not sure what the front is going to look like. Will be interested in seeing some people do some Photoshops of it to simulate what it should look like.

On another note I really really hope that it comes with a carbon fiber roof and a different looking trunk kid with a spoiler built into it hopefully.

Thanks Jason!

I know it's too early to tell but I hope the air dams/curtains won't look too much like the RS4's..
Pretty wide though, nice!
