So, right now my '12 328i Sport 6mt is Mineral Grey with Coral Red leather. I'm in the process of ordering a '15 228i M Sport 6mt (w/ Track) and having a hell of a time deciding on a color combination. I love my grey / red combo, but feel like I should mix it up a little. My parents are pushing the Sapphire Black / Terra combo, which I like too. BUT, my sister's '09 335i is black / saddle and my dad's '11 335i convertible is black / terra, also. Seems kinda boring to have my car be the same combo.

I'd go for Red on red, there's a couple of M235i I've seen in this combo now and it looks fantastic!

Have you owned a black car before? Keeping them looking nice is a full-time job.

What about Estoril Blue with the Terra leather? That seems like a nice combo.

Gray...black...silver.....yawn! Been there/done that...boring. I started out wanting an MSport 228i, but realized the only possibly meaningful difference is the steering wheel design. But, when I saw Valencia Orange was on Sportline and not MSport, this became easy. VO over Oyster (or Terra) is really striking and doesn't look so old as the duller "non-color" colors. (Estoril Blue is another choice for eye-entertainment!) When the sun hits it, it glows in shades of bronze and gold...amazing paint!

Here's mine on delivery day!





Load up a VO Sportline with Track Package (6MT, in my case) and the steering wheel is actually very nice as is...thick and great grip feel. At that point, you're missing nothing compared to MSport and you didn't lose the fog lamps in the deal. Then you have a color that doesn't blend in to the background....unless that's your goal???

I had a space gray E90 with black interior, and moved to Alpine Weiss F22 with Terra interior, I was contemplating a mineral gray with terra before I got my M235i. I love the current setup I got, I will hate winters though
Personally, if there was a choice of Valencia Orange exterior on an M235i with Oyster interior I would definitely go for it. You have that option on a 228i

Im not crazy about the terra color, it looks a bit like...terra cotta
Maybe do the leather upholstery after, and go for something like Cohiba brown?

I would order a m235 in deep sea blue yesterday. But BMW in their infinite wisdom won't allow the 235 or 228 m sport in that color. And thus no m wheel. Would look so good in dark blue

Hey! A lot of great choices mentioned above - thanks for the inputs!

I think each of us has tastes catering to our personalities - in my 20s I'd probably have gone Red or VO or EBII, but I think I tend to gravitate toward darker color combinations. I actually started off with EBII + Terra, and then a few hrs later had a panic attack about the color (i.e. something was off in my gut) - I like EBII, but not sure I like that much. VO + Red interior is a nice combo too; but I feel like I'd be advertising myself to the cops

I ended up just going Black Sapphire + Terra + Fine Line wood + black kidney grilles; I know it's a little boring, I guess I'm a little conservative when it comes to colors.

Still, I appreciate all the inputs and look forward to seeing your cars w/ the chosen combos. Looks like my 228i M Sport will be going into production week 36.

Congrats and enjoy! A question, if I may.....you started out suggesting what your parents were pushing, but now said your "20s", as if that was history. Just wondering.....

I'm 35, so technically my 20s are history (*sigh*). But parents pushing is one of those 'some things never change' things lol. I haven't really advertised that I'm getting a new car to the rest of my family, hence my advice circle has been small.

Hey nothing wrong w/ VO @ 60!! Didn't intend to allude to anything like that either My dad is in his early 60s and just bought a CPO 335i convertible so he's just doing what he wants at this point too.

Maybe I just wussed out lol
