The 1M was received positively. The M135i followed up with even more positive reviews, largely (IMO) because of it's obtainability, and now the M235i is getting a lot of the same treatment.

...

Anyway, it's hard not to root for this car.
This best describes the impression I got from the initial Bimmerpost review, so I'm definitely watching for that in other reviews. Ultimately I'll have to drive it myself, but the waiting game is hard.

One of my favorite quotes from the carmagazine review: "The possibility of an even better M2 version is mind-blowing, but this car may be the sweet spot as a daily-driver."

I agree. I think the 228i may be the sweet spot in the range, but I am really looking forward to reading a review once someone has driven one.

+1 especially when one is on the way with your name on it.

So far i see that the new steering is still the one to worry about. I heard that the brakes are smaller too. Is that true?
I will have to drive it before i make up my mind.

Yes, it has an 80k price tag in Australia (AUD). The 10K comment was made in reference to the smoothness of the engine up to redline, and I'm guessing he's referring to all of the transmissions across 2 series lineup (manual, regular auto, sport auto).

But there has been some sloppiness in some of the reviews I've seen which sucks, what an opportunity to go flog these things on a track meanwhile I'd be able to do nothing more than drive it on city streets at legal speeds next to a chattering salesman asking "what'll it take to get you into this car today!?"

Gents, I'm in a M6 and X6M right now but the X6M sits mostly as I enjoy the passion of driving as do ya'll. BTW, my 14' M6 is a manual tranny. I had and miss my MINI JCW 2-seater. I'm tempted with the M235 very much. Do you guys think the M235 will provide the Mini like tossability and go cart handling? Or, is the M235 going to feel/drive closer to the M6 and thus not provide enough of a difference to warrant having both?

Thanks for your thoughts!

also notice his knowledge of the car, as in 11 min worth of video he manages to call it an M235, an M2, and a 235M.

Understanding that its just a mistake of speech I must say it still drives the correction thirsty enthusiast in me crazy.

All these different reviews and photos.... despite my negativity, on the poor diffusor, it is looking good or better than my earlier impressions.
