I love my 228ix Msport vert. Like some have said having a vert makes a difference and I am over racing on public roads. Quick enough for me. A tune would make a difference if you want more performance but for now I'm good.

Troll time? This thread has me feeling like 'we are all stuck with annoyingly slow cars, but at least the OP is racy enough to be bored already'. You didn't notice the entire thread section devoted to making these go faster, or handle better? Just wanted to stop over and commiserate with the rest of us who are stuck with these low performing gimped out disappointments? There is always something faster, and just a trade-in away; I'm getting a distinct 'ought to be in a mustang' vibe - there's a car for the real action junkies who won't settle for second best.

^ Probably.

Meanwhile, the OP could trade into one of the following:

Dodge Challenger SRT Demon: 808 hp.
Dodge Challenger/Charger SRT Hellcat: 707 hp.
Ford Mustang Shelby GT500: 662 hp.
Chevrolet Camaro Z06/Camaro ZL1: 650 hp.
Ford GT: 647 hp.
Dodge Viper: 645 hp.
Cadillac CTS-V: 640 hp.

Never mind that you can't fully enjoy that kind of power on the street without huge risks of ending up in jail or worse, pranging yourself or some innocent bystander/s.

I think it simply boils down to posturing: mine's bigger than yours.

If Mr Carrots is indeed trolling, his bait selection was excellent with 25 responses essentially letting him know any 2 Series is "fast enough" for any normal, level-headed enthusiast. Like everyone else, no buyer's remorse here. My m235i vert more than fulfills my wants and desires, and at a price I can afford. Certainly other cars could also fulfill my wants and desires, but at a price beyond my means. If Mr Carrots is truly unhappy, as many have pointed out, there are many other flavors for him to choose from to quench his thirst, and I say God bless him and I hope he finds what he is looking for.

My tuned M235i feels quicker than my 911 FWIW, so it's plenty fast enough for a road car.

Probably not trolling, depends what kind of cars you like and used to drive. I got bored of my 335i within a year, took me 5 years to somewhat get bored with S2000. M235i going 2nd year now and it's still great, although I wish it was closer to M2. RWD and manual keeps it fun every day.

I love the size of the car and the ride feel but knowing that BMW gimped this hard and there won't likely be a flash tune available for years to come has me looking at lightly used M4s again, did anyone else have the same lagging buyers remorse after 5k miles?

Why i havn't gotten a ticket other than i must be pretty good at selecting time and place to exercise the horses. Played a little cat and mouse with a new M4 yesterday, my 240 was right with it. We were safe by the way, divided highway very little traffic. It is plenty fast for me.

Perhaps the OP should run the car in DSC Off. In all other modes the nannies can be hyperactive. Sounds like he wants quick throttle response, wheelspin, and drama. DSC Off gives you some of that, otherwise you'll need to go find something with a big naturally aspirated motor if you want that snap and shove immediately after pushing the gas. Turbos by nature will always feel a bit soft at throttle tip-in due to turbo spool. There's no way of getting around it.

Sounds like you should sell your m240 to someone who can truly appreciate it and take a $15k loss in the process...

Seriously though, the only car I have driven that had that "holy **** I'm going to die!" sensation on rolling starts is a 2014 GT500. Had way too much power and the power was immediate due to big V8 and no turbo. Did a burnout when I punched it in 3rd going 65... That being said the GT500 was VERY BAD at handling this power, that chassis had absolutely no business being around that engine.

I also got to drive a 911 Turbo S. Wasn't nearly as scary as the GT500, almost too civilized, turbo takes a bit to spool up. You wouldn't like it...

lol, not trolling - is it hard to believe that this car isn't quick enough off the line for everyone?

I don't care about go-to-jail top end speed, but a much faster 5-60 would be nice. I'd gladly dump a few K into it if the B58 wasn't so crippled, a flash tune, bigger turbo, 285's on the back would all be awesome options if practical with this car.

BMW crippled this engine by making it impossible to flash and from what I'm reading the B58 might take twice as long as the N55 to crack, if at all... The fuel limit and need for WMI or port injection make this a total disappointment, a JB4 on map 1 with crappy CA91 is not going to give me the monster I was hoping from this platform when I learned the m235i was being updated

I understand why BMW tied the B58's shoelaces together (not to give us a cheap M4 beater) and it will be a beast once it's eventually flashable like the N55

Yup, if there was a BM3 and flash tunes for the B58 then I'd do the same and not be complaining!

Then by all means sell or trade the car. M4 0-60 3.9 sec may sate your appetite but doubtful as a stock M240i is a 4.2 0-60 w/ a Dinan Stage 1 likely a 3.9. Soooooo, Camaro ZL1 or Z06 Corvette. Both are decent track cars w/ 0-60 time in the very low 3's or maybe a high 2 sec w/ the Vette.

The thing about adding more and more power is that it's a never-ending addiction, not to mention you're going to compromise reliability and/or blow something up at some point. And someone else--always--is going to have a faster car...

I respect the M240i for what it is: a pretty quick, stylish, sporty/luxurious, great-handling coupe with decent ride quality when I want it, and an impressive suite of electronic goodies. Sounds like the OP made entirely the wrong choice when he bought the car. Live and learn!

What about the jb4 beta time with meth only that walked away from an m4. Certainly an FBO one one methanol would be a bit quicker.

The M240 was the smart buy of the cars you listed. Did your cross shopping include test drives of all 3? what were you coming out of?

I would suggest you choose your next move very wisely, it would suck to sink more money into it to simply get bored soon after, as it would suck to take the hit and buy an M4 and be bored soon after.

I never got bored of my m235i for the 3 years I owned it. It's an all around great car at its price point.

wouldn't a M240 w/ dinan stage 1 for 1400 bucks make it just as fast if not faster than an m4?

Dinan doesn't dyno their products but from what I understand the M4 will still have nearly 100 WHP on the stage 1

I drove all 3 and was grinning all through the M4 test drive around an empty industrial area, the M235i I drove immediately afterwards was fun but not the same, I hoped the more powerful b58 would make the m240i more exciting. Originally I was going to get an RS3 but Audi took so long releasing that car I began to wonder if it was ever coming out.

I'm not knocking the car, I loved it for the first few months but it should be pushing 400 WHP at this price point. It's probably going to lose too much in the sale so I'll likely hold onto it but I'm kind of wishing I'd gone for the new Camaro (this is coming from someone who's always driven European sports cars and rolled my eyes at 'mullet mobiles')

The 1SS 1LE is pretty impressive and closely matches the M4 in performance. I cross shopped the 1SS 1LE before I ended up with my M240i MT.
