Yeah, it was always an existential test coming out to start a Triumph on a wet morning. And on a cold, wet morning ... well, let's just say that Triumph owners learned the hard way that you didn't try to run these cars with a tired battery. But they sure were fun to drive!

The VW was such a bad experience, it soured me on all German cars for a long time. The Sebring was always broken down. The '01 Focus was simply a piece of junk. The most reliable cars we owned were the 2 Saturns, the '07 Altima, and the Dodge SRT-4's, excluding all of our current vehicles, which have all been problem free (knock on wood). I cut my teeth on tuning and building track cars with the SRT-4. That got me hooked on fast cars and modding. You can tell that I also have a soft spot for Celicas.

Cars I have Owned and Loved/Hated
I have owned far too many cars to remember accurately, especially the year models. However, I have owned nothing but BMW's since 1995 when I bought the new M3 coupe. I drove that car for more miles than any car I ever owned and it was a great car. I traded in a 2008 BMW 135i for my M235i and it was a really fun car to own and drive, perhaps the most fun of any car I have owned. The only non-BMW car to approach the 135i in the "fun to drive" category, was a Porsche 944, but the engine blew up on it with only 14,000 miles on the clock while it was sitting idling. It had great steering and handling. The worst car I ever owned was a 1972 or 73' Audi Fox. When it was running, it was a fun car, but it had more problems than any 10 other cars I have owned. The second worst car was a Z28 Camaro, the last year they came with a carburetor. It never really ran properly driving around town and it wasn't especially fast at wide-open throttle (three speed auto). Finally, I will always have a special place in my heart for my first new car, a 1967 Mustang. It was absolutely, completely reliable the entire time I owned it and a fun car to drive and cruise in. I wish I still had it and the 135i, but I can only afford and garage one car at a time.

Good idea for a thread. Very interesting!
'87 Honda Civic (Unkillable) '99 Acura Integra GSR (Great, great, all around car. But FWD) '13 Subaru BRZ (Most fun car I've own. Also, the most poorly built—Lemon Lawed) '15 BMW 228i (Great all around car. Good combination of fun and comfort. Too heavy. Suspension could feel better. But again, a great all around car.) Just for the hell of it, cars I drove on a regular basis, but didn't own. '98 Nissan Sentra (a turd in every possible way) '99 Volkswagen Jetta VR6 (Hated this car. Gearbox somehow managed to be sloppy and notchy and the same time. horribly unreliable) '01 Lexus IS300 (Awesome car. Way better than the newer IS line) '02 Honda Civic SI (Fun, strange car—never got used the the shifter placement) '04 Acura RSX Type S (Fun, but a step backwards from the Integra) '08 Acura TL Type S (Too heavy, but plush) Too many Honda Civics to count (all great from point A to point B) |

My list is going to be a little short
M235i will be my very first car. I've been putting around in my dad's old E46 328i for the past 6 months to learn stick (+my parents' other cars for longer trips/snow). Other than that... |

1971 VW Karmann Ghia - it had a 1 piece unpainted flip-up fiberglass nose that cost more than the car
1972 Volvo 142s - lowered, cammed and dog slow 1977 Mercury Capri 1991 Ford Probe GT - first new car 2004 Mazda RX-8 - my sentimental favorite; I still can't bring myself to sell it 2015 BMW M235i - loving it! All manuals. 3 were bright yellow, 2 red. I like cars of color.

Probably have the shortest list on this thread but here goes:
'05 Chevy Colorado '16 MW M235xi The Colorado was a great first car and was very useful getting all my stuff to and from college 500 miles away. It does not, however, even come close to my 235. I know I don't have much experience owning cars but I could probably make this car my DD for the rest of my life, I absolutely love it. |
