MPE, can I return to stock at Lease end?
Question: I have a stock exhaust, want to buy the M Perf Exhaust at low price online and have it installed. I don't know the install process, but I would hire a indy shop to do it for me. But how easy is it to revert to stock exhaust at lease turn in? does this install do any permanent cutting to the existing parts of the car? I just don't want to be charged for any mod's/damage to the car at lease turn-in

The pipe clamp supplied with the performance kit can be removed with the M Performance muffler when you go back to stock. You can buy a $18 pipe clamp from Auto Zone or similar when you put the original muffler back on. This is my plan next year when I trade my M235i back in.

That's great to hear, I might do that.
Do you know how much time and money it would cost for a indy bmw shop to have it installed? I'm planning to get the part at low price online and have indy shop install it. |

A small tip: whoever does the job, get some anti-sieze compound for the install especially the bolt/nuts used. Makes it a lot easier if you have to remove it in 2-3 years for lease issues.
You'll be anxious to get the switch-job done smoothly and quickly at that point with no damage or cutting again. Anti-sieze makes a nice difference. |

Here's the DIY I followed except I didn't do the exhaust flap golf tee mode.

Note to the above....
The M235 does not have a dimple mark on the exhaust pipe like the 3 series did, you will have hold up the new exhaust and mark the cut point. If you do the exhaust flap mod on the M235 all you have to do is unplug the flap prior to cold start up |
