Check the wheel well liner in both sides. There should be a rectangular trim piece that blocks the access to the headlights wire looms. It's easily lost or stolen.

What part are you talking about? There's a little trap to access the back of the lights but the back of the light is not exposed right? Is it on the headlight or in the fender?
