Fix to for the 2 Series Seatbelt Issue

One of the (small) things that annoyed me about my M235i was the placement of the seatbelt buckle. I don't know why BMW chose to put the belt stop so low on the belt. I've seen multiple threads on the belt end scraping against the seat back. For me it was more of just contorting my arm to reach back and find the buckle.

My last F30 had this little clip that attached to the belt that allowed you to adjust the height of the buckle end. After some searching I found them at Turner Motorsports. It's a cheap fix - actually the shipping was more than the clamps themselves. The Part Number is 72111862636 for anyone interested. Less than $14 for 2 shipped (RT/LT sides).

They take all of 3 seconds to install per side. I love little mods like this that make life so much easier.

I've had cars that have had a button in the belt. It was not adjustable though.

Probably was done so the buckle doesn't get stuck in the door. That's a horrible noise when that happens.

My issue on my 228i is having to reach back to get the belt. Is this a fix for that.

Much easier to grab the belt now. Like it should have been from the factory.

Thanks...good tip! Also on Amazon for about the same shipped price ($12.48/pair) if the forum wipes out Turner inventory!

Back in '78 I worked at a Ford dealer and Ford offered these as a "comfort clip" , It's purpose was to hold the shoulder strap slightly loose so the shoulder strap did not chafe on your neck , they also prevented the inertia lock on the belt retractor from trapping you in the seat on rough roads which happened often, the inertia lock will NOT release with tension on it and we had to cut many belts to let the customer loose. These little clips saved the OEM's a lot of warranty dollars until the redesigned inertia locks went into production. They also caused a lot of people to slam the buckle in their door.

That was one of complaints I put on the survey I got soon after delivery.

I don't see how you could slam the buckle in the door on cars. The position of the belt is behind the door jamb and there is a stop already built into the buckle. It's just too low on the belt to be effective.

I think he's referring to previous experience with other cars. I too have also experienced where the seat belt isn't retracted to the original position (on old old old cars) and door closing on it is a huge clump of metal noise! Ouch!

What hand are you guys using to grab the buckle. in my LHD car I found it way easier to use my left hand. I drop my hand down by my hip and the buckle is right there. I used to use my right hand across my body like I did in my previous cars and that was certainly a pain.

I may get one of these even though I'm still not sold on it being a drastic improvement . My passenger can deal with it as is.

And BZ, I do use the left hand when I don't have a watch on.

Use my left hand also...that sounds so wrong. Anyway, it's much easier with the clamping as the buckle is at shoulder height vs. waist.

What can you lose for $7. I was skeptical too but ordered 2 so if it sucks I'm only out $14.
