JB4 Official Thread
I think we need a thread like this one where we can ask all the questions related to the JB4 which it looks like is the most popular application to tune the ECU on our cars.
So here we go the first questions. Why there so many people with different results using the same maps? You can see results with just the JB4 even if you don't have any other mods like Intake and Downpipes? I'm in the fence between the JB4 or the GSR ECU TUNE. I never had a piggyback system like the JB4 before but I did had a ECU Tune by APR (Stage 1) in my previous car which was a 2011 VW GTI and the experience, reliability was great. I'm pretty much sold on the GSR ECU Tune but before pulling out the trigger I wanna have some feedback from all the JB4 users which I know there's a lot of people here. You will see different results on different cars with any tune. Depends on the condition of the car and the temp where of the location, humidity,etc...
If the 2 cars are exactly the same and they in the same location, results will be identical. Yes you will see around 40whp increase on a stock car with JB4 only. You can even get more gains of you decide to go with a more aggressive map. Once you get a flash tune, you cannot return or get your money back. JB4 is the most popular tune for BMW for the last 5-6 years, it works and thats why the majority of people get it. You also get a 14 day money back guarantee. I recommend you purchase it, give it a try for 2 weeks and if you dont like it just return it.

On which dyno...exactly? Delta hp is the only thing interesting. As Mike already said you have to dyno YOUR OWN car before and after to know what YOUR gain will be. Unless two cars are dynoed at similar conditions on the same dyno you cannot really compare them.

Map 1 has a set boost target. cars running map in the same location, same mods, same car condition, same driver skill, same weight should have the same result

Map 1 is def faster than stock. Switch to map 0 or map 4 run a log, then run a log in map 1 and post it up. Map 1 is running 3 or 4 pounds of boost over the oem target
Op, I ran vws and audi's as well. I would love a flash tune but I just don't understand why I have to drop 1500 for a tune with a single pump gas map. I have plans for my car that require aggressive maps for methanol. I am very interested to see if somebody runs the jb4 on top of the gsr tune, using the gsr tune as a backend flash... |

This is my gain from JB4 map1. A 100% stock M135i is making 265whp at this dyno.
Running meth to cool since its 95 degree F here now.
