BMW sent me a thumb drive as a welcome

There's really nothing but advertising on it.. It's a 2GB USB drive.. I can't believe they were able to source such a small usb drive.. The drive itself is nice and heavy... wish they would have sent 32gb or larger to use in the car.

I wish it was a useable size. then I'd actually use it if I got one! Im surprised as well.. how cheap must a 2 gb drive be wholesale lol

I got one when I bought the car. The ONLY real use is as a "Hey, guess what this is?" moment. Just absurd that they combined the expense of the heavy, nice enclosure with the "why bother" storage.

I really wish I could rip the guts out of that and transplant the guts from my key into it so I'd have a mini key instead.

With comfort access I NEVER once have used the buttons on the key just need the fob with me in a pocket.

If anyone can figure out how to actually do that you'd be my hero.

I got one of those. The moment I figured out how heavy it was, I threw it away.

Whoever made the decision to made these out of cast metal was hopefully fired. USB can't take much counterweight since the bus is friction-activated. That drive is best used as a stone to skip across a pond.

Got one of those with my last car... I gave it to the kid next door who thought the car was, "neato", and it probably ended up in his mouth.

Two months later, I found it in the yard with my lawn mower after his Mom left her Husband for another Woman.

I guess 2 gigs was too much for the him and the family..

To me, these cheap, free gewgaws only cheapen the purchase itself. Makes me wonder about the wisdom of the whole BMW corporate thinking about providing value for money. A single really nice gift would have far greater impact than this trickle of low priced junk.

If we're smart enough to recognize the value of their cars, wouldn't we be smart enough to recognize the (lack of) value of their free stuff?

Give it time. I just got one a couple weeks ago, 9 months after delivery and 13 months after ordering.
