Additionally, in terms of lease turn in - all they give a shit about, in my experience, is the tread on the tires at the time the car is dropped off. I just turned in my 135 with non RFT Hankooks that had good tread on them - which were my mid lease replacement for the shitty RFTs the car came with. Just sayin.

Blizzaks are definitely worth their weight in gold. My Touareg with Pirelli Scorpions (really expensive tires) is much worse in the snow than my old S4 with a set of Blizzaks on it. That thing was like a mountain goat. |

So in the case of snow even when driving like grandma the LSD will help. Similar to how Awd helps. |

So if you get anyone than 1 month a year of freezing temperatures and lasting snow get winter tires. They really don't cost that Much. And they make your other set last longer. Realistically we are talking about ~1500 dollars that in my case I will use 8 months of the year. We have provinces up where where it is illegal to drive in winter without pure winter tires. |

I wouldn't worry about it to much. I don't. Unfortunately we still get snow storms in May here lol. I bought the car as my daily. So far it's better behaved than my Gti was and that had winters. It's amazing what 50:50 weight distribution will do for you and modern traction control. |

Ska325xi, thanks to you in introducing sunmotorcars from eBay, I got a few accessories from them, best price around. I've mentioned the LSD and he price one out shipped to me. I don't want to quote it, but its very tempting. Email or call Brian.

Not sure they would know as it is inside the factory housing. And from what I understand about quafe diff's. The car do not appear to be LSD when on the lift.

They would need to prove the aftermarket diff caused the problem. They can't just blanket deny a claim because you modified the car. If the diff failed catastrophically and it caused other parts to fail, then sure. But if the diff is working perfectly and the transmission died on its own, they can't prove the diff caused it and they have to perform the repairs. Part of the Magnasson-Moss Warranty Act makes that clear that oem parts are not a requirement for honoring the warranty.

Factory part will cover you without question. Dealerships can denied warranty claims when they "suspect" it may have been caused by the aftermarket product. Bottom line, you have the law on your side, but the dealer has the control of the situation. You would be left to fight it out with them or worse in the courts which could be many months with a broken car that you will more than likely have to pay out of pocket until it gets resolved. Having the option of factory parts eliminates all the possible bad outcomes. Just my 2 cents.

Lets see, lifetime warranty on a ~$3k part, or the whole warranty on your $50k car. Seems like a no brainer to me. |

I think it is a hefty price to pay for piece of mind of an unlikely event, especially considering it will need to be rebuilt when the clutches wear out, making it even more expensive in the beginning and throughout the life of the car. Just my point of view. Beside, I never heard of a car detonating and burning to a crisp from a differential, so "the whole warranty on your $50k car" is not even remotely at risk. |
