Guess I will find out this weekend. I did get confirmation from Sun Motors that the M Performance tips are installed using a set screw as are the stock tips.

Is the perf muffler much louder then stock? I searched but unable to really tell from video's Looking for personal experience reviews.
This is such a great price. It now has made me rethink the muffler delete.

Do a search on this fourm for those who already made the upgrade. Only negative thing I have read is there is a small amount of drone but nothing you couldn't live with. The other comment is that it takes a few engines hours to get the muffler "burned in" before the sound gets better.

i don't think the drone would be considered a negative considering its at a nice level. but my only complaint as much as others, would be not being a little louder.

Is there any drone at all in Comfort mode with the MPE?

Stock exhaust, there is zero drone noticeable in Comfort, but in Sport there is quite a bit of drone (though it may be the Active Sound and not the actual exhaust).

How does the MPE compare to stock in Comfort vs Sport?

Zero drone.

If you want it louder, as I did, just get a downpipe

I drove a 435i with full M Performance package today at the factory 4 series event. With the windows rolled up you couldn't tell that it had a performance exhaust. It seems like a waste of money to me.

That's my concern about it, that with the windows up, you wouldn't even know you have it and seeing how my windows are up probably 95% of the year, it would be kind of a waste.

Installed yesterday. On startup it is at twice as loud as stock muffler. During reving I didn't notice it being any louder, but I read it takes several hours of run in before it gets louder. Makes sense since there was a slight burning smell when I test drove after installation with the windows down. The right tip was extremely hot so I guess it does take a bit of "burn in" before the sound quality improves. One note, it is lighter than the stock muffler, didn't weight them but holding them both I would say at lease 10 lbs lighter for the MPE muffler.

I did remove the factory tips and installed them on the MPE muffler. Same diameter pipe so they press fit on with metal ribs on the inside of the tips. Very clean and maybe 1 1/2" longer out than on the stock muffler which looks better in my opinion.

Do the tips have to be 1.5" out more than stock or is that how you preferred it? Or asked another way, can the tips be installed exactly the same as stock?

Wasn't going to spend $1000 for a muffler, but $650 I can live with given I spend the same amount for my previous Nameless Axleback on the WRX. Nice the great looking standard tips will fit on it too. I see the Carbon Tips are selling for just under $500 for the pair which is nuts! Now waiting to see what Dinan comes up with for the Stage 2 software upgrade so it will run as fast as it sounds .
