Bavaria is being hit hard. Our thoughts are with the victims. Knowing that it's what the attackers want to achieve I'm still changing my plans for an ED next year to a regular buy unless this is reigned in. Munich and BMW still gets a chunk of money so it's not a full win for the enemy.

I don't know why people always think terror when they see a shooting -- that looks like it was more of a shoot out amongst foes \_("_")_/

Clearly most on here are sheltered to other aspects of the world that don't revolve within their comfortable bubble.

In my original message i literally said assassination attempt or act of terror. It's not just a McDonalds, there was shooting at the shopping center closeby too. Civilians are getting shot at random. Also, at around 20:45 Berlin time police called it an urgent terror alert.

German TV news is reporting six dead at the OEZ(Olympia Einkauf Zentrum) and many ~20 people hurt/wounded. They are now checking for explosives/bombs.

U-bahn and all public transport(Buses/trains/subway) has been shut down in the Munich area. Also Autobahns around Munich have been closed.

There are also reports of shots fired at Marien platz and Odeon platz in downtown Munich. Also the main train station in the city(center) has been evacuated/closed.

All McDonald's have been ordered to close down in Munich. Because the McD's in OEZ was where most of the victims were.

The German Polizei are now looking for three individuals. They are at large. The Bundes Grenz Schutz(BGS) have reinstituted border controls/checks on the Czech and Austrian borders. This event is being called a terror attack.

30 people are shot in my home town every day, 6 shot shouldn't be this large of an OMG was my point.

Don't see how this influences those taking delivery of their $80k vehicles.

I completely agree with you. But this is a different context as the victims are in a place generally thought to be safe and where families can go and spend time together enjoying life. It's a little different than the accumulation of murders in say Chicago where the victims of most of those shootings were involved in a wrong life style and or just at the wrong place(area known for such activities) at the wrong time.

I wouldn't expect to be on Rodeo Drive on vacation and some murdering ahole jumps out and sprays the sidewalk with an AK or enjoying fire works a national and family celebration like in France and a terrorists plows through crowd.

So people aren't appalled by the numbers so much as the act and location.

Reference reminds me of something I heard the other night at dinner.

Woman at table next to me was complaining about a black lives matter protest on Rodeo and said, "I can't believe there were no police, it was so scary. What if one of them had a gun and were like let's shoot these rich white people today."

I guess it's the desensitization that makes me view shootings like these from a different perspective.

hope everyone is safe. never made it to this part of munich on my ED, but heard reports of shooting at the Marienplatz subway station, and that's a stop we took a few times
