ShopBMWUSA.com 2-Series Rebates Black Fri - Cyber Monday

For the 2-er they will have available with 40% rebate:

624M wheel and tire set in black
M240 LSD automatic cars only

Some other crap like hats and whatnot but those were the two items I saw specific to our cars.

Can you put the LSD on a xDrive?

Just ordered the LSD, as it seems like that price puts it $500 below dealer price.

Yes. Some guys have done it with success after they coded off the e-diff, which uses braking to help get the car through a corner instead of how the LSD would. They would end up competing against each other.

Damn good price for this LSD today.

I'm watching intently for the M235 LSD will be on sale for Christmas. 40% off is nuts.

Pulled the trigger on the LSD, delivered to my Center. Price was reduced in the basket to $2280, so the rebate will be slightly reduced as well. Installation will be 15% off for my CCA membership.

Had it installed today, and will have the next week to break it in before the track day at Thunderhill on 12/11. $540 for the installation by my BMW Dealer.

Hoping for 40% off during Christmas as well. John how did you get 15% off install? I don't see that on the CCA benefits page...do I just mention to SA?

I also ordered it for pick up at my dealer.
Mine was not reduced to $2280 in the cart. It was $2500. Hmm.
M Performance Limited Slip Differential - Auto 40i Only
Part # 33108659989 QTY 1 $2,500.00

My service writer quoted 5+ hours labor / $830 for the install. I challenged him on that, telling him that all the info I could find online indicated a 2.5 - 3 hour job. He responded: BMW "warranty time" is 3 hours to R&R the diff, but "service techs won't quote that amount because that's the minimum it will take, so I gave you an estimate for the amount it might take".
I told him to recheck with his tech foreman and call me back to let me know if they'll do it for 3 hours. I'm waiting for his response...

How many hours labor did your dealer estimate?

I would show the dealer this. It specifically states 2.5 hours install time.

Thanks.
I didn't show him that, but I did say that the BMW info I could find said 2.5 hours. That's when he told me the BMW "warranty time" was 3 hours to R&R the diff.
And I told him that would be acceptable. He said he needs to check with the tech. I'm waiting for his response.

I find this odd because there should be a book time from BMW that specifically notes the time to remove and replace the diff pumpkin. It's not up to the tech to determine the level of effort. Book times are established in the US to keep shops honest.

Yeah, I found it odd as well. It sounded like he wasn't familiar with the part or the job and was guessing.

I had this exact same BS service tactic used on me by European Performance in Raleigh, NC for my old Porsche. Can't stand stealerships that run their business like that. I moved on and got a far better price and excellent service experience from the P-car dealership (Porsche Southpoint in Durham) along with a full day test drive of the then new 991.1 Carrera. . Luckily, it's a free market and we can go choose a better alternative.

Yeah I'm wondering this as well, because I'm also a member. But, I didn't know that 15% off service at BMW dealers was one of the benefits.

I think it's only a discount off of parts, not labor. Install should be around $550. When they put the part into their system, they get the MSRP install quote. There is no rocket science to it or guesswork. They are trying to scam you.

The SA finally contacted me and confirmed they'll do it for 3 hours plus any parts/supplies.
I don't think he was trying to scam me. I think he just wasn't familiar with the job and was trying to cover his a$$.
I have an appointment for Monday. I hope the install goes well and the upgrade is worth the money and time. Fingers crossed...

My install was $530. He showed me the sheet that shows the remove+install time was listed as 3.5 hours, and it actually did take that long.

First impressions are that it sticks much better accelerating out of turns, and feels more composed like an M2. I haven't yet been able to get the back to slide around like I used to be able to, but I don't miss that and haven't floored it because I'm still in the breakin period.
