No 2-series in Korea?

I just spent three days in Korea and, while most of the time was devoted to work, I did do some car-watching as always when I was out and about. Mostly Korean cars, as expected, not many BMWs at all (It was explained to me that Koreans like their Benz), but among the few BMW sightings lots of different models but not one 2-series. I suppose I could check the local website, but I wonder if they are on the menu there.

Interesting, I didn't know that. I'm following a M2 in Korea on IG so I assumed they were available, but I guess not.

If you go to gang-nam (like in Psy's hit song couple years back), I'm sure you can find plenty of 520d, 320d's around and even exotic cars.

Interesting, because the first 2 series I ever saw was at a BMW dealership in Seoul, while I lived there.
Which prompted me to order my car shortly befor I returned to the U.S.
Actually, South Korea is a major market for BMW, and if you go to Bundang, a swanky suburb, south of Seoul, BMW's,
Especially 5 series are as common as Hyundai's. But in truth, I probably saw one, maybe two 2's, and very few coupes in general for that matter:
Koreans love their sedans.

There should be a reason why BMW built performance driving center in Korea.
They do have a lot of 5 series but 90% of them are 520d. (I think real 5 series 'starts' from 540 (535). I guess that's just me)

I don't think they have 2 series other than M2.

Their entry model is 118d (120d?).

If we have M140 xdrive in US, I would get that instead of M240.

Still, love my car.

... actually they do, or at least used to sell the non M2.
The only ones I saw there, including the one displayed at the dealership, were 228d. But that was back in 2014!
On a side note, you could find a 1M for far less than in the States

230/240 aren't available in Korea.
220d/M2 are the only available models in Korea
most german cars in korea are diesels.

foreign cars are taxed heavily and fuel costs more than double the cost in the U.S.
hence the unavailability of higher tier gasoline models... other than M2 for Korean M fans.
