M235i newbie questions
Hi all
I've just picked up a well specced 2014 M235i which i'm really pleased with. However - I have a few newbie questions: Active Sound - I don't think I have this. I'm not complaining, but I don't know why it isn't there. Previous owner (who had it from new) says the car never had it. The car has had no coding work done as far as I know. ConnectedDrive - No sure what this is or if I have to do anything to active. Can anyone enlighten me?! Drive modes - Can I have sport or sport + but retain full traction control? Also - do these cars have tyre pressure sensors or is that an option?! TIA

Active Sound: Not sure how you test for this. I have it but it doesn't seem to make that much difference, to my mind.
Connected Drive: Yes, it's confusing because the UK iPhone AppStore has at least three overlapping apps related to this. I cover this in another thread: http://www.2addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1369062 where i post images of the icons used for each app and what each does. Basically, the latest one is probably all you need. But you will need to be subscribed to BMW Connected Services for the full functionality. If you have this, then you can also download an Intellligent Owner's Guide app which will be tailored to your specific VIN (not completely, but better than the generic paper version) and updated online from time to time. Driving Modes: You never totally disable some form of traction control, it's just a matter of degree. The various combinations of drive setting are numerous. Probably the best summary is at: http://www.babybmw.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=71296 Tyre Pressure Sensors: I would have thought that you'd have TPMS, otherwise your system would complain every time you start the car and gets no telemetry from the tyre sensors. In the iDrive there's an option to monitor tyre pressures (I recall you have to be in motion) which should tell you definitively.

Thanks for the reply, appreciate it - Seems quiet in this place
Will check out the links you've provided and see how I get on. I don't visibly seem to have TPMS sensors, and haven't found the menu so guessing that a MY 2014 car doesn't have tyre sensors.

Basic is where it will detect a puncture through the rolling diameter of the wheel becoming different to when you initiate the system. The you have the other version where you get the individual tyre pressure and temperature displayed I the idrive menu. You know if you have this as the tyre valves are different as they have sensor s in.

There is a module in the boot, rear left side behind the trim. The m235 has it for sure.

Thanks for the reply. Seems my car either doesn't have active sound installed, or had been physically disabled. Changing values on bimmercode makes no difference in my car.
Will also add that it has been custom mapped so not sure if it could have been disabled as part of that process. |
