Nice post. I was trying to triangulate how much more they are selling of 3/4 series compared to the 2 series.
I was doing crazy math from July 2015 data, but I noticed that a more comprehensive data from June 2016 is available Yeah, looks like 2 series is finally picking up. They are up by 3715 in the first half of the year. 3 series is down by 10k units and 4 series down by 5k units. they could also give us the 1 series hatchback. I guess they got traumatized that the 1 series didn't sell much around here. But the new 1 hatchback is an entirely different car, so no point of getting nervous. Quote:

Great news, but I'm curious to why. I can't recall lease rates/deals from last year but I don't remember them being less favorable. I'd be interested to know why the sudden uptick.

Does the M2 count as a 2 series? Could be one factor.

Is there a month(s) that are historically best from an incentive perspective to purchase? |

Yes, it does.
What's really significant about these numbers is how much higher they are than those of the old 1-series, which typically moved 600-1200 units per month. The team behind the 2-series must be absolutely thrilled. You wonder, though, if it's potentially cannibalizing sales from higher-priced models. |

... and then sales were back to 1-series territory of 728 cars for August.
Interesting drop off in sales.... Perhaps lack of inventory due to dealers offering blowout deals in July on the remaining 228/235s to clear the way for the 230/240s? |

The dealer (where I bought two 128s) did contact me earlier this summer, offering to sweeten the deal on a new 2-series. As every 2-series on the lot was optioned out the wazoo, plus no MTs, I passed. We will see, come next spring, when my warranty runs out. But, it will be my call, not theirs. I am happy to order a car, and wait, if the deal is reasonable. If not, I'll go elsewhere.
