M240i on its way to the port!

My M240i has left the factory and is on its way to the port! It should be here some time in September. I originally had an allocation with an earlier build week but had to let it go because Apple Carplay was not available yet. My car finished production yesterday and the dealer had been able to add AC to the build (even though order guides say SOP 8/16).

My build
- M240i Coupe
- Alpine White
- Black Dakota Leather
- Aluminum Hexagon Trim with Black high-gloss highlight
- Navigation system
- Driver Assistance Package
- Wireless Charging
- Apple CarPlay Compatibility
- Moonroof deletion
- 436M Orbit Grey w/ non-runflat performance tires

PIA added to order
- Black Kidney Grilles
- Carbon Fiber Mirror Caps
- Front Splitter Body color

Other accessories
My dealer hasn't been able to add these to the order so I'’ll have to have them installed at the dealer unless things change before it gets to VPC
- M Performance exhaust w/ stainless steel finishers and painted diffuser
- Carbon fiber rear spoiler

Other non OEM updates
- IND painted reflectors
- 18" VMR 710

Timeline
- 5/17/16 - Contacted dealer and entered order in order bank
- 6/17/16 - Received allocation originally for August production but was pulled into early July production. I had to let this one go because Apple CarPlay was not available as an option to be added to this build
- 7/21/16 - Received second allocation and entered production
- 7/28/16 - Finished production
- 7/29/16 - In transit from the factory to the port
- 8/1/16- Arrived to the German port (Bremerhaven)
- 8/9/16 - Got on a ship (Morning Calypso) and left the port
- 8/19/16 - Ship arrived at East coast port (Baltimore)
- 9/3/16 - Arrived at West coast port (Hueneme)
- 9/10/16 - Left port on truck from VPC
- 9/13/16 - Arrived at dealer
- 9/22/16 - Delivery

Update: Wheels
I forgot to upload a photo of it with the new wheels (VMR710 18" in Silver). The factory rubber definitely got stretched but I haven't had any rubbing problems.

I got an email from my dealer on 7/20 that he had a new allocation for me and that it was already in production. Not sure if that was the first day or not.

Mind me asking why the sunroof delete? Always thought it gave the vehicle more resale value to have the sunroof, but not sure. Just curious as to why you chose that option.

I've had some in the past and I haven't used them. I also like the cleaner look and the added head clearance (less weight is a bonus). It's also one less thing to potentially have problems (seals, noise, etc.)

Call BMW genius and ask for them to contact PIA program director at HQ to add. Chris helped me out multiple times and he is the man. Have the PIA codes ready before you call.

Thanks drexplode. I called yesterday and whoever I got said that they can't help with that but I had read that others in the forums have been able to in the past.

Do you have a direct number to call him? If not, do you know his last name so I can ask for him?

Thanks in advance!

Sorry they don't give out their numbers but ask someone at genius to guide you to Chris. There is only one I do believe.

Ha! Thank you, I'll try. I saw somebody named Tyler mentioned in the F30 forums too but they don't work there anymore.

Tyler moved to a different department. Chris was able to pull some huge strings for my m3 and m235i order. Back up is Vince. You can try him too

I was finally able to get a hold of Chris. It looks like those parts are not available right now as PIA. I'll have to check again in a few weeks when the car is getting close to the port.

Speaking from the perspective of someone who like to track his car I didn't order the sunroof as it not only adds significant weight but it's also weight up high which is the worst place for weight.

Yep, the sunroof raises the center of gravity which decreases performance. It might be a small improvement but I value that more than some extra light and air.

makes sense as the M240i is brand new. I ordered my 340i in January, and was able to add MPE in early March. Might take some time for the M240i MPE to reach inventory - hopefully before she arrives at VPC!!

The parts manager at my dealer was able to pull up the parts for the M240i in the ETK last week so that's plan B. It looks like the MPE might be the same as the 340 which would make sense since they share the B58.

Awesome! Wasn't sure because of the length difference between 2 and 3 series.

I like MPE with my M235i - I bet MPE with M240 sounds even better! A lot more cracks and pops and burbles.

Yeah I've been watching some videos of the MPE on the 340

Maybe I'll post some videos at some point...

Manual or auto? We've got almost exactly the same car spec'd minus a couple addons and a delete

Do mention if you have any luck with the MPE as I would love to add it as a PIA!

Most of my cars have been manual including my last BMW (E92 M3) but I decided to opt for auto this time.

I see you're in SF! What's the status of your order?

Manual for me -- It'll be the first nice car that I actually cared about so I couldn't not have manual (the clock is ticking )

Ended production on Friday on it's way to the port -- I was scheduled Week 31 (expecting August 1 but it started around July 28th) -- I think same as you I waited until I could spec it with CarPlay
