Keeping it under 4k rpm was the hardest thing I've ever had to do.

Time to beat the shit out of it until you need new tires at 1400 miles.

Man, I hope you guys were at least varying load, gears, rpm, and actually giving it some hard throttle occasionally during this period. Driving like a Nancy for 1,200 miles isn't going to do your motor any favors.

I noticed that when I went past 1200 miles the car ran even better.

Most of my miles are city and I average around 16 mpg so I think there was a pretty good variance in loads. It's just going from shifting at 9k rpm in the s2k to keeping it under 4k rpm that's torture.

The guys that designed it, built it and created the documentation disagree....

Is it really that necessary to keep the RPM's below 4000rpm during the first 1200 miles? Hasn't that been a myth for some time or am I mistaken?

It actually says it in the manual. However, for me, I really never paid attention to keeping it under 4k RPM. I think I broke 1200 miles the first month.

I always have a little chuckle at the poor folks who were tortured by babying their first 1200 miles... but good job! Now you've made it!
