How long will the M235i be available for?
Now that the M2 is coming closer to production, does anyone know or have any speculation as to how long the M235i will be around / in production for ?
Not sure if BMW is just gonna switch to the 235i once the M2 is available and take away any extra "M" goodies Test drove one today and already itching for my 428 lease to expire so I can jump into financing one... It was just... wow, amazing. I'd hate to miss out on ordering one. (M2 will be out of my price range unfortunately) |

Pretty sure production on the current body style runs until 2018. The new model name will be M240i from 2017 on however. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I can easily see them making the M Sport package and Track Handling Package optional once the M2 is out. And I could definitely see some people going for a "Luxury Line" 235i (likely 240i by then) without the sport seats and stiffer suspension.

The only option I didn't see in the 228 when I ordered my M235i and still not showing for current model 228i is the Limited Slip Diff performance option.

I actually think you will start seeing an expansion of the M-Performance line. We know the MX40i is coming and I wouldn't be surprised if we see an M340i/M440i in the near future.

Life cycle is usually 6 years for cars so there will be at least a 2019 2 series, the 3 series ran 6 years from 2006-2011. The last X3 ran 7 model years 2004-2010 and X5 was 7 years so it must be 6 for cars and 7 for SUV's.

According to Wiki it was an eight year run: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMW_3_Series_(E90) F22 got started way late in terms of production, November of 2013 and first model year is considered 2014. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMW_2_Series_(F22) |
