Convertible Top Problem?

This afternoon I went to put the top down. The windows were up. I pressed the switch and the windows rolled down. I held it, and after a few seconds realized the top was not moving. I could hear a whirring sound, but it sounded like an unloaded motor. I released the switch and tried again, and it worked fine.

This is the second time this has happened this week. Has anyone seem similar?

(For the record, while I have hopes of installing a smarttop module soon, it's currently unmodified.)

Can't say I've had any issues with the top. If it continues and is reproducible you can bring the car in to be looked at.

Normally the car makes noise for a few seconds as the latches are retracting, are you sure this wasn't what you experienced?

it's a different noise, and I can see the top shift when the latches retract. It's almost like the car thinks one of the windows is still up, and keeps running a window motor.

Take it into the dealer.

Once out of warranty (granted you have a few years still) these tops get very very expensive to fix.
