I tried to power brake to 2500 and spun through 1st and most of 2nd.
my best run was power braking to 1500 and mashing it. This Friday I'm going again and I'll try heating the tires and rolling out a little. I'll let you know how I make out.

I have zero clue how to activate the LC.

A full stage 4 kit with turbo upgrade, intercooler, tune, exhaust, intake, etc. installed is going to be north of $10k easy.

I just found out my dealer is a DINAN dealer and have tuned a couple of the loaners. Ha ha. Depending on the price difference in labor is the catch for where I get my stuff. There's an Indy that's about 90 minutes away that I trust more.

Next time I am at the dealer, the BMW Genius is going to go through the launch control with me.

Is this a standard option or do I need to have tech pack?

If you have an automatic it is a standard feature. See owner's manual, search the forums or Youtube. There are two steps to it.

Yeah, a highly reputable indie BMW tuner shop with a Dinan license is a much better bet for tuning and installation than a dealership, IMO. I can certainly recommend a superb one in Los Angeles.

+1. Can't go wrong with Autohaus Frankfurt in Murrieta.

European Road and Racing in Charleston is where I would be going.

Anybody ever have a conversation with Dinan regarding high flow down pipes and in particular why they avoid messing with DP when it seems like a high flow cat could really be beneficial.

Simply put they are not emissions legal. We are aiming at having a completely 50 state legal product line up. The fines and hassle involved with non-emissions compliant goods is just too much to deal with nowadays. There's also the whole warranty aspect that throws a kink into downpipes...

1. Turn off traction control.
2. Put shifter in Sport.
3. Brake hard with left foot.
4. Floor with right foot until you see flag in tach screen.
5. Let go of brake (and move your left foot to the dead pedal so you aren't tempted to hit it again.)

And the key to all of this working is having driven the car 6 miles before attempting (and not turning the car off) in order to warm it up. Otherwise the launch control will never activate.

I emailed Roman Mica at TFLCAR.com about possibly doing a 0-60 test with my stock M235i xdrive and then re-test after a stage 1, stage 2, stage 3 but they have a lot of projects lined up so doubtful it will happen.

Dyno the car at each stage instead.

I should be able to get into the 12's once I know what I'm doing.
I have done a good deal of launching with my 100% stock engine car (other than mperf muffler) using my vbox to gauge which method is the fastest, and by far the best I have found is the launch control. Using launch control I get pretty consistent 4.5-4.6 0-60 times with even a few 4.4. I have not run the full quarter mile with it simply due to not having a place that long and flat, but pretty much into 2nd gear at least with my stock car there is no more tire spin. I am running continental sport contact 5 tires in 245 in the rear on a 9.5" wheel and of course make sure they are fully warmed.

When launching from a dead stop and just slamming the gas I have gotten very poor results. It is not due to tire spin at all, but due to the fact that it takes the turbos time to spool up and the car starts for just a second very slowly before it screams off. Some of your mods may give you less turbo lag than my stock car; I don't know. Anyway, I do not recall ever getting a time below 5.0 0-60 this method.

Bottom line for best results launch control is the way to go!

Now that I have completed all of my cosmetic mods I am ready to move onto the performance end of things, and Dinan is very high on my list due to the warranty and ease of install and use. I look forward to hearing everyones results in this thread. I have been eyeing the Dinan CAI for a week or so now (more for sound), but I am not happy about the long wait time!
