Does your car have an "i" on the badge
My car is a 2015 and I always thought it was a bit odd it didn't have the "i" on M235 badge. I assumed BMW thought it would be too cluttered with such a long name on the trunk.
But today I saw this video (skip to 1:58 for clip with badging) And the test cars badge has the full "M235i" badging. No difference to me one way or another, just thought it was interested. Wondering if there is any rhyme of reason to the badging.

Mine has an "i". Ask the dealer to replace yours.

There are threads you can search with opinions which go both ways, but you could think of this as a head start on cleaning up that decklid....go badgeless!

My 2011 328i was delivered with the "i" upside-down. I have a "328!". But my M235i is just that, i present and accounted for.

I noticed the numbers are not connected like other BMW’s I have owned. You could remove the 3 and 5 to have an M2. I would not do it but I am sure someone will see one eventually.

which is so strange considering the badge is all one 'emblem/sticker' to be applied. I think someone just had fun with it. My ex's 335i has the i missing..(fell off..the adhesive is still there showing the 'i'.
