1974 BMW 2002 Tii Alpina A4S
Since the 2002 was billed as the grandfather of our cars, figured here was as good a place as any to post this bad boy. Really, really want...

Think importing it is relatively easy now that it's over 25 years old. |

As a 'car jockey' for a BMW dealership in Queens, NY in the mid 1970s I drove a lot of '69-'74 2002s, including several tii's, but never an Alpina. The best year was '73 because they removed all the engine pollution controls (changed cylinder shape and used exhaust gas re-circ) so that power was returned. '74 brought 5mph bumpers and extra weight, so a bit less desirable.
Lot's of fun to drive. 128i is most comparable car we have today, in terms of spirit/intention and overall fun. |

My other "project" idea would be a restomod on a 2002 touring and basically end up w a modernized bat mobile race wagon.
Oh decisions decisions...

Beauty! From back in the day, when 100hp/liter was race engine territory. And now that they are out of the public eye, you can relive the REAL fun, which is smoking unsuspecting muscle cars with ease (well, at least you would surprise them). Keeps egging me on to get myself one of those reversed turbo graphics for the front end.

Neighbor around the corner has a 2002 Tii. I drool every time I walk by his garage. Heh!

Was the drool a good way to get him to let you wipe it down? I do love those old sedan supercars. When I was a kid I got to see two of the batmobile art cars at an exhibit in NYC, and I think they left a permanent impression. That and the full-graphics 911 RS that somebody was street parking around Manhattan (remember it feeling like fate to see the same car 3 times in a week, in a city that big).

I had the pleasure of driving a few 2002s back in the 70s. When the time came for me to buy the first 320i in October, 1976, there was a 2002, in that identical Rubinrot (ruby Red) color in the showroom when I signed for the 3, and I was feeling quite torn between the two choices. This sure does bring back those memories and the appreciation for the 2002....but those dollars for a car in Turkey? I think I'll just keep remembering.....
