Whats your insurance premium like on this car
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com For those of you who have already picked up your new 2 series...please post how much you're paying for 6 months to insure this vehicle. ************************************************** ************************************************** ************************ EDIT: Ok since some of the members here seem to find this to be a TOUCHY subject for whatever reason, please indicate the following in your post: Leasing/financing or buying 228 or M235 Total premium Deductible amounts & anything else you don't mind revealing I'm not interested if you're doing $500,000/$500,000 or $1MIL/$1MIL for bodily injury protection to cover all your assets or whatever your situations are. I just want to know what type of premiums you guys are looking at for a 6 month period. My current carrier, who is usually extremely competitive, is quoting me $780 for 6 months on an M235 and that's with bare minimum coverage for a lease: $100k/$300k bodily injury, $50k property, $1000 deductibles for collision and comprehensive, plus un-insured motorist of only 10k/20k. Had a minor fender bender a few years back, but even with that, I'm currently paying less than $600 every 6 months with my current vehicle. I'm surprised my premium is going to go up over $150 for this car, when a new C7 Stingray would actually cost me less to insure with my current carrier. I haven't gotten numbers but I expect to pay no more than 550 to 600 (like my 335) every six months with a 250 deductible and well above state minimums. However there was a time when I was paying 3000 for 6 months on a 10000 dollar car so numbers on the forum may not be a good gauge. |

how is knowing what other ppl are paying gonna help you? if you can't get lower in your area by calling different agents, then you can't. Even if others are paying $200 lower than you, so what? your insurance agent is not gonna give you a discount because somebody on the other side of the country paid $200 less.

You need to buy more uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage. If someone with minimum limits hits you, and you get seriously injured, you will be screwed. Seriously. Do it tomorrow

I'm aware of that. Like I said that was a quote for bare minimum coverage on a lease. Going to easily be in the high 800s low 900s to insure if I pull the trigger on this car and get suitable coverage, which is ridiculous

The vehicle type should only impact comprehensive and collision coverage's. Most commonly, vehicle types are grouped into classes, and each class is assigned a relativity that will impact the amount of premium that you pay. Different insurance companies will group vehicles differently, and will assign their own unique relativities to each group. So you are unlikely to get any meaningful answer out of this question.
The 2 series has also not made it into any of these groupings as it is still too new, which means that most companies will assign it based on the MSRP and coupe classification. Thus, expect to pay a rate very close to that of a 135is. |

I pay about $94/month for a 100/300 policy on a 2006 325i. I just called my insurance agent and if I were to get a 228i, my premium would increase about $22/month, so $116/month.

Does anybody have their M235i (or 228 for that matter) insured with GEICO? I Went to get an online quote but they haven't even added the car to the list I can choose from

You can get a quote from Geico if you provide a VIN and select other for model. A Geico rep will email you back with a real quote for an M235i within an hour or so.

There are a lot of variables that will effect your insurance rate, so what I pay is irrelevant to what you'll pay for the most part.
I have a M235i - $438 for 6 mos with a little better coverage than your minimum. |
