Didn't backup SVT

1st attempt at coding today and I forgot to backup SVT If I re-code everything back to stock and back up the SVT would that be equal to backing up an un modified SVT?

SVT = Software Variant Table (ie listing of ECU's and their firmware)
It does not actually contain any FDL coding parameters.

You could code a hundred different parameters in 30 different ECU's and the SVT will be unchanged.

The only time it changes is after software/firmware is updated through flash programming.

I see. Well, I went ahead and coded back to stock as I didn't have a backup of my .ncd files. Now I feel safe being coded.

You are welcome to do that, but you also can always just VO code back to factory. I use ncd iterations with TM's NCD / CAFD tool to compare, but never use to reset ECU.

I read up on TM's NCD tool and its features. If I want factory settings in the future (same as resetting ECU?) I can VO code like you said?

Yes, though, I am confused by what you previously did when you "coded back to stock."

I just un-did the coding I previously did without backing up the .ncd files.

so you manually FDL-coded your vehicle back to stock?

Here's what I did:

1. Coded 2 or 3 features. On this first round, only backed up FA.
2. Went back in and FDL coded those 2 or 3 features to stock.
3. Made sure the car was back to stock and backed up FA/SVT/.ncd files. I assumed those were the files as they came from factory.
4. With everything backed up, I re-coded the car with the desired changes.

FA is like SVT. Unless changes written to VCM, they remain factory.

Ah ok. I was under the impression FA and SVT were necessary to backup for FDL coding - as per TM's F30 FDL coding demonstration.

SVT is good to backup unless you have CAFD_ID's memorized like me. That way, you know which NCD to load offline in FDL-Editor.

The FA, if unmodified, will match what is found in Decoded VIN. And, can always be pulled from VCM. I sometimes save them & load modified copies(eg, -6NH, +6NS) to do VO coding.
