Silly question :)
Considering the build date of my M235i (March 30th, 2015) - is it a "2015 M235i" or a "2016 M235i"?
March (like July) is a month of some minor changes/cosmetic improvement in BMW lineup, and my vehicle apparently qualifies (like having the new NBT2 aka Evo head unit for Navi, small touches to the dashboard etc). But does it make it a 2016 model?

Not really. The 2016 builds for the 2-series (excluding the M2) begin in July, per the 2016 planning sheet. There will be a shutdown of the line to make hard changes prior to that date.

There are actually laws as to what months you can list a car as the next model year, I believe earliest month is July in the USA however most manufacturers do the model year change in the fall because coming out with the next model year, even when there is no change reduces the value of existing inventory a bit.

The NHTSA regulation permits applying the following calendar year to models put into commerce (shipped from the plant) on/after January 1st. So, a U.S. 2016 model may be shipped for sale on/after January 1st, 2015.

The model year of your car is what it says on the sticker. When the 2016 cars are announced you will know and the dealers will sell as such.
There can be small changes throughout the model year, which may be due to supplier changes, quality improvements, part end of life, etc - but that doesn't make the car a new model year.
