Background: A friend of mine in the DFW area ordered a 228i M Sport nearly identical to mine at nearly the same time, but from two different area dealerships, and both cars were on the Oregon Highway. Only real difference that affected transport time: I had one port-installed option (black kidney grilles; a 10-15-minute install at port), he had none. Both our cars were scanned into vpc at Brunswick at midnight after arrival day (March 4). My kidney grilles were installed the following morning.

His dealer's scheduled to get his car on Wednesday, March 11.

Mine? Saturday, March 14.

Waggoner typically delivers 1-2 days early, so I'm hopeful. But there are two takeaways here:
1). Our cars are sitting at port for several days
2). Port-installed options -- even really easy and quick ones -- delay delivery by 1-3 days.

I hereby rescind the above. SHE'S AT THE DEALER!
(And my area buddy's? Unloaded from its truck roughly an hour before mine.)
It's pissing rain here today, so I'm not gonna pick her up until tomorrow ... pics by the weekend (gonna do a few things to her first ... damn. That sounded bad ... )

My car finally went to "Finishing Touches" on the website, but the automated system still says "in port awaiting a shipping vessel". I guess "shipping vessels" includes the train to the Performance Center.

So you moved it up some? I remember you had beginning of April. I'm guessing they move the cars up about a week or so before PCD given storage space, so I'll keep getting the "your ship is in port awaiting a shipping vessel message for a while". Does that sound right?

My 3 week day is tomorrow, so I booked a one way rental car. I still haven't finalized the return route, but it will through Asheville with minimal interstate. I'm planning outdoors sightseeing if the weather's good, the Biltmore Estate if we need to be indoors.

Only a couple of days earlier than originally anticipated. We're doing the same and renting a car one-way. Considered flying but the budget airline flies out at only one airport in our region. Too much hassle. Enterprise delivers!

Overnight stay at the Inn at Biltmore and follow-on scenic mountain drive west, then south towards GA.

Great minds think alike! From my house to the airport is only an hour more with rental car than by plane, and we don't have to leave the house at 4:30 AM. Plus, we'll probably stop and see friends in Charlotte on the way down.

Oh, and if anyone is obsessive as me <crickets chirping> , the Oregon Highway completed the circuit and pulled into Zeebrugge, Belgium this morning. The cam is on a 5 minute refresh, so all I got was nose then wake.

Don't you worry about that. I know exactly how your car is optioned which is quite nicely I must say and is the same color as mine. If anything happens to mine, I will get on the next flight to Virginia Beach, find you and take delivery.

All my hotel stuff is confirmed with BMW then for a night in Asheville. We'll drive quite a bit on the Blue Ridge Parkway which should be great for break in. I'm planning to minimize Interstate time for fun - time and wife permitting.

The car is still in Charleston though for sure out of VPC. They even had it scheduled for Waggoner's Trucking to the Performance Center a few days ago, but said it hasn't left for some reason. I'm finalizing stuff with the dealer as well this week.

I'm getting very antsy, if you can't tell!
