I guess living in MN and being 37 has its advantages.
So many variables including age, location, driving history, multi-car and home discounts, etc. I have very similar coverage as you plus $0 comprehensive, uninsured motorist, and higher liability limits and I'm paying $340 every 6 months on my 2016 M235i in the Kansas City area. I'm 41, married, perfect driving record, and home/umbrella/multi-car policies.

Fully expect rates to start climbing as used prices drop significantly in the next 2 to 3 years and young folks start wrecking them.

I went from GEICO to Liberty when I had my MINI roadster on account that GEICO wanted to increase my rates. Did the Liberty Mutual discount offered to MINI/BMW owners and haven't looked back. I expected my rates to increase, considerably when I got the m235i manual, but it went up $3. a month over the MINI. I'm paying $92. monthly here in Des Moines, Iowa, for both the BMW and my wife RAV 4. Also, Liberty Mutual will work with you if you give them a chance, that is what I have found. Oh yes, Im older than dirt.

^ Perfect example of various factors. I previously said I switched from Liberty Mutual back to Geico because of the difference in price. I told Liberty Mutual and they refused to work with me so I switched back to Geico saving 80 bucks a month. There's really no answer to be found. Best thing to do is shop around as much as possible.

No Geico stock and dont work for them...
Pretty much this for us going to Geico as well, including the HO and Umbrella.

Umbrella is more expensive than our last one, HO is about the same, but the car insurance is about half of our prior. Overall, we saved quite a bit. Took a bunch of calls, though, and it appeared somewhat agent dependent to get all the interlinking discounts to get the cost way down.

Of course good ole Canada, they seem to really give it to us in this socialist paradise eh! My F350 was $375.00/mth and now it's registered in NB and only $65.00/mth. Will update once I know what the M235i will be.

Wow that's pretty crazy. I guess you can have some solace knowing your import laws aren't as stupid as ours. I can't buy a r34 legally until 2024.

how!? I'm paying 200/month and I have a stunt driving conviction for one more year. You must have a major conviction like that and some minors as well.

From BC. 29 here, clean record and I'm at $260/mo with full ICBC coverage. I came from Ontario with no proven driving experience so my discount hasn't been applied yet (up to 40% off, 5%/year with no accidents). Could get into low $200's today on a private plan, but they are hard to get claims out of, and are known for leaving people high and dry with comprehensive claims.

Geico is way cheaper than everyone else for me... and their homeowners was about $400 a year less for the same coverage. They contract the homeowners insurance out, though.

Well, we are paying $1050 year, but that includes both our cars. 2014 228i and a 2013 Nissan Pathfinder. That is Full Collision on both vehicles with a $500 deductible.

I am picking up my 2015 M235i Saturday and called my insurance agent. I was surprised at how high insurance is for this car. For comparison I have an X3 as well, and the M235i is almost 50% higher in total premium..and the difference is almost entirely collision coverage. Does this make sense to people?

In BC as well, basic with ICBC (we're required by law to place accident benefits, uninsured, and $200K liability with ICBC), collision/comp/excess liability ($5 million) with Family, $200 deductible, $1700 yr.

One thing about our rates here is that ICBC also runs the drivers licensing and vehicle registration systems and our insurances premiums pay those costs directly

I got quotes from a few insurance companies just now on my new (to me) M235i.

Basically I was astonished at the variability of the quotes I got. Amazing how big a difference for the same policy details on the same car in the same location (Reno, NV).

At the low end was Geico at just under $800 per year. My carrier came in at just under $1400, and then I got quotes at State Farm and Allstate....wow, I thought my carrier was high. These guys were almost double again from my carrier. I am an old guy with a clean record. Yikes!

I think I'm sticking with our existing carrier. They aren't all that cheap, but the level of service is always very high.

Zip code is a very big factor in this as well.

I'm 34 - Full coverage / Clear record / 80 bucks a month with 2 cars on the policy.

I was paying less than you for similar coverage in Maine, at 47 - $535/yr. Moved 3/4 time to Florida, and the same policy on a '17 GTI was quoted at $2200/yr - BMW would have been significantly more. Location, location, location, just like real estate.

Ended up with Geico for $1000/yr but much lower coverage limits and much higher deductibles. But on the bright side, no state income tax, no annual car excise tax, and dirt cheap houses prices and property taxes. Oh, and NO SNOW!

It is useless to compare rates for other people, however, it does pay to get a quote from another company, so long as your record has been squeaky clean since you last changed carriers. We just switched and cut our insurance in half.

Rates are so specific to your demographics and locale that it won't help much to know what others pay; gotta shop around in your area. You can counter-offer, but they may not have any room to negotiate. If you aren't locked into cost, then look for better service more than absolute lowest cost (especially OEM repairs, loaners, full replacement, etc.).

And get an umbrella policy for at least 1-2mill. These are often pretty cheap and you may be able to go with a lower tier auto policy by having that to fall back on. Minimum coverage is a bad move, like using pullout for birth control. Any serious wreck will net hundreds of thousands per injury in med bills, millions when they start figuring lost wages, etc; quickly overloads typical policies and would leave you on the hook. And they will sue, even if they are at fault - you are 'the guy in the BMW' not the guy in the 10yo Honda.
