Why does it look like the stagger on the test mules is less than what we typically get from BMW in production. Perhaps the test drivers and engineers don't want the amount of understeer that they typically dial in for 'safety' reasons. The pictures in the last post look like pretty meaty front fitments. As does the pic attached here. Not square for sure but doesn't look too far off. Regardless, easy cure with new wheels if the car comes dialed in with too much understeer.

Don't see that it needs big rear tyres as it only puts out a fraction more power than an M235 and they need to keep the width of the cat down or it will look stupid

That's if you even BELIEVE the power figures that BMW released. Just like the M3/M4 has "only" 425 hp.

Edit: also that remark makes no sense because even if the power didn't increase at all the handling would still improve. Last edited by Adem1534; 06-06-2015 at 04:02 PM.. |

So the M2 prototype passed me on the Autobahn while I was headed to Slovenia yesterday. I noticed it in the side mirror and couldn't get to my phone fast enough to get a closer pic. All I got was the rear. Sounded glorious in person when it went by me though. No chance of catching up as I was with the whole family in the minivan. Ha ha. I can't post the pic till Tuesday. My phone browser won't let me go advanced.

In HeelToe's image:
Why does the front look like it should be the back with the exception of the front hood....flare/wheels & tires look bigger in the front than the rear. |

I think where there are openings both fore and aft of a wheel well its for what BMW market as an "air curtain" for improved aerodynamic flow over the wheels. |

Might be an optical illusion. The fender gap on the rear looks a lot smaller than on the front, aiding with that impression. Best guess would be production car will get 245 section up front and 265 sections rear. Seems fitting when M3/4 are 255 and 275. Think that would be an ideal size in all honesty. Car will most likely take aftermarket options allowing for a 255/ 275 fitment if desired, but think staggered is far more likely than a square set up from factory.

It looks as if the door even has a slight flare starting on it leading into the rear quarter panel?
If so...will deem very difficult for the m235i guys wanting to do conversions |

Ha ha...sorry I just got back last night and had to post it to the book of Faces so I can link it here. I know it's a little blurry but it happened pretty fast.
