Mind you. Matchbox released the 1M die cast model also in blue (apart from orange).

As are you at this point...:

Look up M technic.

BMW has made special editions for over 30 years. Many of these have a following and many have elevated values over their counterparts one level down.

Look up M535 and E30 technic

Learn some BMW history, and respect your elders!

I'm an M car snob as much as the next guy but I'm not so crass that I think I'm better than the next guy , and I'm certainly not going to disparage another owners purchase.

I'm also not gonna disparage BMW for throwing around some badges. People want to have a little M in their car.. Fine be me. Some of us want the full M treatment, some don't .. Whether it is because they can't afford it, don't value it, or simply wouldn't drive it hard enough etc.

To me it's even flashier than VO but then, based on the number of votes for LBB over AY and MG, it seems like a lot of people want the blue because at least it's not monochrome. Having seen both LBB and MG in bright sun, I think I could get used to gray.....even if it isn't the preferable DG.
???

This post is confusing.

You own what vehicle in Austin yellow?

Your profile indicates you own a 1m.

Did you mean VO or is your profile out of date and you now own an M3 or M4?

I know it's not related, but that picture gives me significant pause about an M2 in LBB. I wanna hurl.

We're of course again off topic as usual because this has nothing to do with colors. But let me just say:

1) Who gives a damn what a car is called?
2) Who gives a damn about colors?

Last time I checked, neither of those things affect the way a car drives.

Because the orange matchbox is that much better to look at?

The blue one kinda looks like LBB though!

The orange one looks like you spilled Tang on it.

It actually really does look like LBB, agreed. Maybe that's where BMW got the color idea from

I just get a slight headache from the 1M model in an LBB-close shade. I'm not sure I can order LBB although I continue to consider it. I would like other interiors offered instead of just the currently proposed black with blue stitching. I think a red or saddle interior would be nicer with the the other three exterior shades.

I think the M2 could become somewhat of a BMW cult car like the 1M is or beyond. Although it might be an initial production simplification decision on BMW's part, I'm sorry that the cult may have to include some odd initial color choices.

IEDEI, regardless of our mutual respect, I got to point out that, as per Scott26, at some point in time, the E82 135i was initially meant to be labelled as ///M car:
"Originally in the early days of marketing the standard 135i was originally meant to be an M model."
So forum fellow M3 Adjuster has a point.

Never forget that without the E82 135i, the E82 1M would not exist.

yes of course but it was NOT an M model just like the M235 is NOT an M model.

I'm a huge fan of the 135. A hell of a car.

To be fair, no one in this thread said anything about the M235i being an M car or not. You kind of brought that up on your own.

If you compare it to a 1M, then of course, it's not as good even if the numbers are close. But for a "normal" BMW, I think the M235i is a hell of a car. By far the only non M I'd consider apart from a 3er Touring.

But again, this is off topic

I didn't randomly bring it up....I brought it up due to the incessant M235 owners comparisons to the M2 and their denial of that fact that the M2 will clearly be a better car than the 235....in every objective and subjective way...regardless of if one tunes a car or not.

Earlier today an Alfa Romeo 4C in Alfa Red ('Rosso Alfa' or 'Rosso Competizione') passing through the city center made me turn my head.

I thought straightaway: "C'mon BMW, give us an M2 in a hot color".

PURPLE

The GT3 RS looks so good in purple, as shown by Chris Harris [u2b]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-hTLk1rU_ZI[/u2b]

I am sure purple would look hawt on the BMW, they need to bring it back.
