Heck. I work for the auto group, so I only plan on putting $500-1000 max till official word comes out.

I was the only one asking about it as of 2 months ago.

I know right? I guess the "safe" assumption might be the percentage of price difference between a 435i and M4, tacked onto the 235i.

Either way I am itching.

SoCal dealer would not take a deposit.

BUT... My local dealership just got purchased by another. I called today to see how the new ownership was going and was told they are REQUIRED to markup X///M vehicles by $15k. They will not sell me an M2 at MSRP. I am the first on the list and wanted to put down a deposit May, 2014. They will not accept deposits until a car is able to be ordered. I have purchased 4 cars from the dealer in the past. Only 1 in the past from the new owners, though.
I get to start over.

Someone reserved my local dealer's first M2 allocation, over a year ago. I was told that I have their second M2 allocation and that I will be called in to discuss a build as soon as they have build information. So far, I haven't been asked for a deposit.

A large dealership here in Aus wanted $2000aud and I got them down to $500 refundable. 4th inline. This M2 better deliver because I drove the M4 which had a M performance exhaust and christ that car is a weapon! Hopping into the m235i afterwards felt more at home as my e46 M3 size wise and the feeling of you could do so much more with the car but shit it felt sedate like it was a regular 2er and the engine so quiet. It only had 40km was the auto and a vert and felt no where near a true M car. If this thing ain't coming with the S55 then they better work some magic otherwise it's M4/M3 for me but need to sell kidney.

I agree, every time I drive my Dads F80 and then climb back in my M135i it's so soft, quiet and unfocused.

The new M3/4 are amazing machines!

Not a really fair comparison in my opinion. Not only was it an Auto, but it was also a vert.

I've said it many times, while I think the M3/4 is supremely competent, I think it's lost that playful-ness of old M3's. Maybe it's because it's gotten so physically big, or maybe because it makes so much more torque that it's a bit scary now?

I guess a good comparison would be your E46. I think the M2 will be much closer to that car than the M4, just depends what you want. I'm not looking for all out power, but more a car that fits like a glove.

It's going to be interesting for sure!

Was #2 and now #1 at my dealer as the guy couldn't hold out. I've been in the list since last fall. No deposit, was told it was unlawful in Pa for them to accept any money. I owe deposit once the allocation comes in to hold my spot.

Do any of you expect to get the ED discount (7%) applied? Assume stateside delivery is MSRP?

will dealers mark up?

If you put a deposit, will the dealers still do a 10-15k markup when the car launches?

I have never bought a brand new BMW but anticipate the M2 will be my first. How does ED work? Do you have to make the trip to Europe or is it possible to find a dealer who will fill out the ED paperwork and you just wait for your shipment?

You have to pick up the car in Germany for ED.

Only with the steering feel but it drives very well with the suspension set on sport+. I was thinking to sell my F80 for the GT4 I have coming in and maybe a M2 6 months later. I don't think the M2 would be much of a downgrade from the F80?
Steering should be on Comfort

Yes, I know. I set on Sports + suspension and Comfort steering as the best combo IMHO.

Getting out of my Boxster Spyder and Lancer Evolution the M3 steering is really lacking feel. Compared to other EPS the FR-S steering feel is even better. The M3 is a great car but, that is one thing that is not it's strong points. I'm sure BMW will program and tweak it over time but the EPS is fairly new to M cars.

I'm still waiting for the official specs on the M2. I'm interested.

However, when the specs come out or when you are able to build these online, I'll probably have to put a deposit down myself too.
Is there a proposed "group" ED for the M2? You're the second post in this thread that mentions a group or "mass" ED...

Just wondering. Because I am planning on going the ED route for the new M...

Thanks for any info
