I'm going to make a prediction that the back taillight are going to look terrible. If they look even close to the 3D render we got a while back, they're going to look too far apart and not substantial enough. The one photo of the badge on the back seems to show them cutting off too early toward the middle of the trunk lid.

BMW NA is really strict when it comes to pictures like this. A while back I uploaded some pics of a camo'd out 435i and within a matter of hours I had emails from HR and other BMW reps. It was a a close one!

I wonder why they didn't stretch the headlights all the way to the grill, I thought that was part of their new design language

and I still don't understand why it's a M 235, why not just 235

Overall I like the new 2 series a lot. I just don't like the portion of paint above the kidney grilles and below the hood line. I don't like how there's paint there. I like how previous gen BMW's top part of the grill stops at the hood's front edge. This is also one thing I didn't like about the F30. But maybe this is where BMW is headed with their design. I'm just thankful that the headlights aren't connected to the kidney grille. But other than that, the car looks great!!!

Several websites have reported that there will be a M235i cabrio, but it's not supposed to arrive til the latter part of 2014.

Sometimes I miss the times when BMW models differed substantially from each other, designwise, but shared the same philosophy and in some cases same technology.

It is more like Audi/VW group tradition now; each model looks like a slightly smaller or bigger version of the others essentially.

I am not saying it is good or bad looking car, no judgements about this particular model as well; all I say is nowadays different models have less unique personality and therefore they are indeed less different than others. I see too much similarity between this and a M135i and a 435i, more so than I would like to see if I would be in the market for a brand new sporty BMW.

Leaving all the real personalization chances for M Performance accessories catalog is not a very client-friendly approach imho.

Or, maybe I had unrealistic expectations from 2 and 4 series.

the car looks too upright - not nearly as low slung as the 4.... if i was in the market for a coupe (which i'm not), i would consider passing maybe getting a 435i m sport with m performance goodies instead.

Same here, and that they make xenons standard on the M235i. My specs would be:

Valencia Orange/Black Leatherette

Heated seats
H/K speakers

That's it. Hoping that with ED and employee discount, I can bring that the total to low 40s.

Saw this, 435 and i3 being tested by BMW at Monticello Motor Club last week. Even then it was wrapped in camo and I tried snapping a pic but the guy yelled at us lol.

That BMW and M are two different companies ? Yes, on paper, they are, to be able to brand-protect the letter M, but in practice ofcourse they're intermixed.

the old leak of the red car had those horizontal slats in the lower front air dams and that slat seems to be gone on the production model? Or are we looking at cars with different options on them????

it is no less an M car than the 1M coupe. the 1M featured a suped up N54, if im correct, both this car and those previously mentioned M models (MX5 35d, M535d etc) are the same way either diesel or regular gasoline powered models, yet with added horsepower (and also feature a "powered by ///M" badge on the engine cover). The M division of BMW simply produces suped up versions of the typical BMW models, so how is this model any different?

Plus, this is not an M Sport model, it is a true M car because it is powered by an M tuned engine. Theres a difference between putting an M badge on a 335i and putting an M badge on this car. I'm not sure the engine has been modified by ///M themselves,
if I remember correctly it's things like suspension that have had ///M treatment. I'm happy to be corrected on this if I'm wrong

huh?

the 1M was developed by the M-Division using DIFFERENT parts for suspension, braking, steering, etc from the standard 1-series. They don't just 'soup up' standard cars----they re-engineer them and "M" cars are not built alongside the standard models on the assembly line.

the M235i is definitely NOT an M car.....it doesn't have the development nor the uniqueness to be one. It is essentially an M-inspired car or for better terms an equivalent 'is' rebadged as an M235i.
