Any 230i owner with muffler delete?

I am considering muffler delete on my 230ix. Stock exhaust sounds too quiet.
The only thing makes me hasitate is “drone”
I really wanna hear honest experience and opinion from 230i onwer with muffler deleted if there is any drone when I cruise on highway.

I watched a lot of video on youtube, but not so sure about drone..

Delete the resonator and open the exhaust flap and then unplug it.

Recently just did mine. Droning is pretty minimal but it definitely is there if you decide to step on it a little. I try to stay at the speed limit whenever I'm on the highway give or take 5 mph and there is very little drone (cracking a window totally gets rid of it). I love the sound and not much can beat it for the $155 it cost me. I could just be looking through rose-colored glasses because it was done just three days ago so I can give you an update in a week or so.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience.
I usually drive mine at 1300 - 2500 rpm mainly. Do you think there will be drone in this rpm range?
Could you please post a video from outside and in cabin as well?

There isn't any drone around there, don't worry. I'll try to do a video tomorrow.
You're welcome! Glad to help especially with how blind I was going into the delete.

I tried to record with my phone but it couldn't really pick up any of the sounds from the car so the video is on hold for a bit. I did have my girlfriend take some notes on the drone though.

1k-3k rpm is minimal, there is no headache listening to it for an extended amount of time.
+4k rpm though is when you'll really start to feel the drone. I kept it at ~4k for a little just to see how bad it is and my girlfriend told me to stop after a minute because she was getting a headache from it.
For highway cruising, I turned on cruise control for 65, 75, and 85 mph -- all of which can be kept on without fear of noticeable drone.

i remove the resonator and open the flap first, that doesn't make much difference. and i did a muffler delete, it sounds like a m3 m4 when it's warm, it's quite when you are cruising, but it does come with some vibration on cold start, now i'm going to put back the resonator try to eliminate that.

Thank you my friend.
So, there is a little drone from 1k to 3k rpm according to your experience, right?
Also, after 4k rpm you got droning sound.
OK I got it. thank you so much, I really appreciate it.
I hope you can make a video about the exhaust note from outside if it is possible.

Thank you for your post, but I really want to know the experience from 230i owner. Because engines in 228i and 230i is different. Not so sure if different engine makes different sound, but it matters to me.

They are essentially the same engine. Both 2.0L turbo 4cyl, the 230i only has 6hp more and the exact same torque. Hardly a different engine if you ask me. That's like me saying my 2018 Scat Pack will sound different from an 2015 SRT392, there have been minor updates to the 392 Hemi, but same basic engine, just different trim levels and different model years. I would think there won't be a difference in sound at all....
