2 series allocations
Hi All
I know this issue has been kicked around a bit on other threads. I placed an order for a 2018 230i - a specific build - in the last week of April. I spoke to my sales person yesterday and was told that there were no allocations for the month of May, and "let's see what happens in June". He went on to say that this is an issue nationwide. In light of other comments on other threads of orders placed i n January, February, with still no build number, it is leaving me wondering about what's going on and whether BMW has decided to not build any more 2018s - or whether there is a glut on the docks and in the dealerships. Would be great if we could hear from someone from BMW. Matt Burg |

I think it's a combination of those factors. There were not a lot of allocations left, when I placed my order end of March the dealer said there were only 8 available in the Northeast. Those people that have been waiting months for their production number just got strung along by their dealer when the dealer wasn't able to secure one of the few remaining allocations. I placed my order end of March and my 240 is on a ship right now and should be here by next week. Since it's already close to end of production on 2018's I wouldn't be shocked if there are no more allocation available, but shop around to other dealers and you'll find out for sure. Many told me there were no allocations left, yet I found a dealer that was able to get one for me within 2 days. Good luck.

I ordered a M240i April 21st and still have no VIN/Production # . Dealer is having an extremely hard time. Basically what they told me a few weeks ago is most dealers have just 1 allocation left and are not willing to trade them up.
This has since gone to 'There is one last dealer we are trying to negotiate with' I'm not confident but we shall see. |

It also seems that M240s aren't really flying off their lots right now. There is one fairly nearby I've been keeping an eye on that has EXACTLY what I want, BUT they added the "M Performance Interior Package" which is an extra $2000 for purely cosmetic stuff I'm not interested in having added. But point is, that car has been sitting on their lot since January along with a couple of other M240s. |

I've also had an order in since the second week of April. No production number. At this point I'll probably wait until fall and get a '19.

I've been trying to order an m240i xdrive the past month to replace my m235i xdrive that is coming off of lease soon, but my dealership is having issues doing so. They also said that they can't find an m240i xdrive allocation to trade for anywhere in the country. I've been leasing BMWs for years and never had any issues until now. WTF is going on?!

With that said, I just got a call from my dealer. They got me a car as of today.
Apparently a new dealership opened in the southeast region and when that happens BMW gives allocations from other dealerships to the new one. He had to barter with the new one to get a car. So the production manager at my dealership says. Either way im just stoked to finally have a car! |

I placed an order for a low-spec 2018 M240i the same day you posted this (Tue., 5/22). The salesman said they were out of '18 2-Series allocations, but that they have relationships with dealers all over the region. So he called up on his screen the remaining 2018 allocations belonging to those other dealers and then asked me to sit tight while his sales manager started calling to see who would trade/give them one. I don't know which dealer gave it up, but he came back, said "No problem.", and then wrote up the order. I'd gone in assuming I'd be ordering a 2019, and they'd assumed that I didn't want to order a 2018. Before making it clear that I wanted a car sooner rather than later, the salesman told me that 2019 allocations were expected to be made available sometime in June, production is planned to begin sometime in July, and delivery could be expected in September. He didn't have firm dates for the first two, just the month. He also said to assume an 8-10 week time frame for delivery. |

After not hearing anything for a couple of weeks, I assumed bad news awaited me and called the salesman to find out what the story was. All those 2 Series allocations that were supposedly out there? Maybe they were, maybe they weren't, but if they were the BMW Center of Excellence dealer I went to couldn't get another dealer to give one up. I wasn't surprised.

I’m in the same boat as previous posters. I went to a dealer in early May to place an order for a 2018 240i. They told me all was good and that the order was in their “build queue”. (at the time I didn’t fully understand the process of ‘allocations’)
I even went as far as to agree upon a price, sign the deal, and placed a deposit. The deal included a rebate which I assume was tied to the ‘end of production’ timing of the order. They called me today to tell me that they were unable to get an allocation for a 2018 and it would have to be a 2019. When I queried on if the price would change, they we’re not very forthcoming. I plan to call them back tomorrow and press for more details. Any suggestions on my approach? Since I have a signed deal for a specific price, and have placed my deposit, should I be insisting on that price going forward ? Any suggestions on what information I should be asking for ? Thanks in advance for any tips. |

JeremyEW- sorry to hear, but take a look at the new 2019 pricing guides just released and see how the pricing compares on your build.
Found out today that my dealer was able to get an allocation in 112 status and modify it to include the options I want. I now have a production number. Of course the same options on a MY19 is $600 cheaper, go figure. Last edited by Vitacura; 06-11-2018 at 08:55 PM.. |
