220i and 225xi coming 2015

I was just shown at my local dealer the US 2015 build schedule and a US 220i and a US 225xi (!) shows production start 3/2015.

It also saw a M235xi starting 11/2014 build.

This is ahead of any official announcement I know of, but it was clearly listed and wanted to share. It also had an F4x code for the 22x models which was interesting. I'm sure Jason has more/official info.

Did you happen to see a F23 (cabrio) on the build schedule?

F45 is Active Tourer...

M235xi is 07/14 build...

11/2014 build is for 228i, 228xi and M235 convertibles. Regular production on these models won't actually begin until 01/2015.

I thought the Active Tourer was not for US import?

As for the M235xi, I know July starts all 2015 builds. So maybe an old US build sheet?

Nope, its coming. Apparently some dealers aren't very happy about it though.

What I don't get is why BMW thinks that the Craptive Tourer will sell in the states but the 1er hatch won't...

Unfortunately no other info on the sheet other then model number and build dates. I wasn't able to get a copy either.

it won't sell. I had an Audi A3 quattro before my 1er and it was a great car....very capable, nicely made-----and it didn't sell at all in the US. People in this country do not understand Hatchbacks.....I don't think the Active Tourer will sell either unless they price it significantly less than $30k.

The Active Tourer will sell well.
I still think they should sell the 1 series hatch, even if it doesn't sell at 2 series coupe levels.

Audi is bringing the A3 hatch to the US. TDI and E-Tron only for now. I don't get why they don't bring the full line since the car is already federalized. I suspect production capacity has something to do with it.

In California where there are five gazillion Prius hatchbacks, I think people have gotten it. Maybe its the auto manufacturers who don't understand people in this country.

possibly....but there's a difference between an $18k Honda Fit and a $35k german hatchback. People can see spending less money on an 'econo' hatchback, but most people have difficulty understanding how someone spends $35k on a 'luxury' hatchback.

I spent close to $40k on the A3 quattro titanium edition a few years ago....and people were always shocked by that amount.

I do agree that we should somewhat blame the automakers for pushing SUVs in everybody's face....but after all this is the US, and americans think of Dodge Omnis, Chevy Chevettes, and el-cheapo Japanese and Korean cars of the 80s when they think of hatchbacks. Europeans, on the other hand, have a long tradition of mainstream hatchback use.

i personally love hatchbacks. the utility is amazing and i like the way the look.

The 220i is the fwd Active Tourer. So it's about as much competition to the BRZ as a Z4 is to a Chrysler Town & Country.

Are you sure? Since the f22 220i already exist elsewhere in the world and since we have the 320i f30 in here I don't see why It would be impossible.

They've announced that the AT will be available as the 220i and 225iX, so this plays right into that. We won't get four motor choices in the extremely low volume F22, five if they ever get around to the M2.
