BMS Stage 1 and Warranty
I've looked all over the forum but just wanted to double check before purchasing a BMS Stage 1. Has anyone had their car flagged after installing the Stage 1 when taking their car in for service? Or is their simply no trace once it is removed prior to taking the car in for service? Any input would be appreciated.

If you remove it prior to taking it in to service, you will be fine... Some people even leave it in for service, depends on the SA

Legally dealership cannot void your warranty unless they can prove that the JB damaged your car.
That being said it takes 15 minutes to uninstall the JB stage 1, i would just do that before my dealership visit. if removed the Jb you will not get flagged

Hummm,, wasn't aware of this?
The dealership would certainly have a claim that you increased the boost, which could have caused the warranty problem. That would make for a tight case. And come out of your pocket. This is the reason I'm looking more into Dinan. Its a safe gamble. |

Yes, but if you buy from a BMW dealer that it's also Dinan, then you take it there and one or the other is going to pay

The BMS/JB4 ARE detectable. Directly, maybe not because it does not trigger a 'tamper' protection like a OBD2 tune would, but indirectly, in the case of a PUMA claim (usually major issues with engine/drivetrain) you can bet that a BMW tech/engineer can pull logged info from the DME and will SEE that you were overboosting, etc.
And yes, people assume you are oh-so-safe with Dinan. Bottom line is your BMW warranty WILL NOT COVER damage associated with a Dinan install. Dinan has a 3rd party insurance company that will pay out warranty claims and while that may be invisible to the consumer you can bet that you having aftermarket engine modifications will play a role in your CPO/trade-in value.

Dinan sell people up on their "warranty" but I truly hope people don't believe for a second that BMW NA would ever pay out a warranty claim or back anything based off of Dinan's products. At the end of the day, Dinan is still aftermarket in the eyes of BMW NA. Quote:
