M235i build thread (updated)

Update 15 December 2015

Fitted Bimmertech amp, significant improvement in bass and clarity. My Focal speakers no longer feel underpowered!

------------------------------------------------------------------

Hey guys. Recently fitted some new wheels, 18" GTC AFF-1 flow formed wheels in space graphite (yes these have been pretty popular around the forum recently).

Previously I had my eye set on the VMR V804, which are basically identical to the AFF-1. Jason from Eurodivision contacted me about the new wheels when he saw I was looking at the V804's; I'd previously purchased wheels from Eurodivision maybe 2 years ago and he has always been great to deal with. With them being local (saving a bunch on shipping and USD exchange rates) it was a no brainer.

I love the look of these wheels, the design is very unique and eye catching. The colour is quite similar to the stock Ferric Grey OEM colour. It's not particularly dark.

It is markedly lighter than stock wheels. I am not sure if it's a placebo effect but I swear my car is handling and braking a bit better after the wheels were fitted.

These wheels are available in 19" and 18"; I opted for 18x8 ET42 all around over the 19". I think if the rear wheels were wider and with a slight drop it would be perfect, but with my front lip I don't think it is feasible to do a drop as I don't want to trash my front lip either.

All in all, very happy with Eurodivision and would recommend them.

Pics are below (I'll take more soon)

Hi all

So this has been a while in the making as I've been a bit lazy.

I am only looking to put on a few tasteful (in my view) mods. I won't be going FBO until my warranty runs out.

Current mods:

BMW tint
Opticoat pro
BMW Performance side skirts & decals
BMW Performance front splitter
BMW Performance grills
BMW Performance stainless steel pedals
RW Carbon mirror caps
RW Carbon spoiler
Exotics Tuning CF diffuser
Tuningwerk exhaust
Arma full carbon fiber intake
JB4 EWG with FF
ER chargepipe
Focal IFBMW-S Speaker Kit
Bimmertech amp upgrade
18x8 ET42 GTC AFF-1

Looks bloody amazing!! That would've been my 2nd colour choice. Turned out great as I have similar mods!

On a side note what's the difference between that diffuser and the m performance ones?

Thanks den. The diffuser is carbon fibre, and the styling is a little different too.

Yes our mods are quite similar Do you have anything else planned?

Ummm not much planned maybe a diffuser or an intake... Don't want to do a tune yet, as still skeptical about piggyback systems like jb4

How much for diffuser landed? Easy mod to diy?

Car looks great! Looking forward to the video of the exhaust...!

New wheels and it'll look perfect!

With the M perf side skirts/decals... are they actually different to the stock 235 side skirts? Or are they just the same with decals?

Cheers

Thanks mate, should have a video up soon...just gotta get it uploaded!

The m performance bits are decals + side splitter. The skirts are the oem skirts.

very nice

interested to see what wheels you go with

i'm tossing up (putting the business case together for wifey) a set of mods for my pretty stock set up.

- did an FMIC get considered in the mix along with intake?

- what was the approach for having mods done in Brisbane?

I like the Avant Garde M580, there's a photo shoot of a mineral grey m235 on their website... But lately I've also been looking at the Advan RZ II which just came out.. in hyper black or gloss black.

I have everything done by Rencal, they have a modded F80 M3 and an E82 135i and know their euro cars! Vince at Rencal is awesome to deal with.

I haven't looked at FMIC yet, as I'm not sure if I want performance bolt ons until warranty runs out. Let me know how you go, would love to check out your car after your mods are on

Cheers thanks for the heads up. So it is just a splitter and a decal that bolts on to the M sport side skirt?

Exhaust sounds great, btw!

Nice sound very deep... Assuming it's axelback? Oem pipes makes a deeper sound. And assuming no valvetronic system?

Ps. Never heard of arma... Am looking for a nice looking carbon intake myself

Yep axle back, didn't see any point getting aftermarket mid pipes. It's not valvetronic, just uses oem flap which I didn't unplug. I looked at armytrix and iPE, but they were an extra $2-3k which I decided to spend on wheels...

Google "Arma speed", it's a full carbon fibre intake with the airbox, looks awesome and costs 40% less than gruppeM. My mechanic has it installed on their F80. I'll get mine installed in 2 weeks or so and then will post some more pics

Quick sneak peek of my new intake... also put on my JB4 EWG, and wow massive difference. I had the E82 JB4 previously but this is far smoother. Will give a better review after one or two weeks of driving. BUT I absolutely hate the controls vs the E series, I can't even tell which CAN flap mode I am in!!

Will take better pics when I can!

Intake looks great. How is the noise from the induction? Much different?

Interested to hear your thoughts about the JB4!

You in Sydney? Would love to have a look and listen to the intake, and feel the JB4 before moving forward.

The noise is definitely much more audible compared to stock, but it's no where near as loud as the open air intakes (I had a BMS intake on my previous car). If stock was 0 and open intake 10, I'd say this is around a 5.

Updated first post with intake pics...

the wheels look sweet, makes me think twice about my colour choice but I think either gloss or matte finish would look good
