Whatever it will be; it will be WAY better than the CLA.

Better yet, they could just skip all that if they want and just bring me the LCI 1er hatchback.

I see a business case for both even if they overlap, as others have said.

I don't understand why they would make a grand coupé when that would just make it a 3 series with a different front end??? Disappointing

A four door 2 series would be smaller than a 3, which is smaller than a 5, which is smaller than the 7. Technically the 1 series sedan is the same size as a 2 series, but that is FWD so not comparable. |

Apparently BMW AG couldn't envision this either LOL , and it's Really a shame actually. Not that you couldn't envision this , but BMW sure should have, after the success they had in the compact segment with the E30, E36 and E46. Somehow every other automaker figured out how to slot cars in under their bread and butter vehicles except BMW AG. Honda moved the accord and the civic upmarket but has brought in the Fit for example. BMW actually did manage to do this with the X lineup.. bringing in the X1 and moving the X3 and X5 up in size.. The fact that Mercedes has been selling the crap out of those ugly CLAs just makes me... Last edited by M3 Adjuster; 05-29-2015 at 03:24 PM.. |

Yeah seriously BMW--stop with all the new models!!
... right after you release the rwd M235i gran coupe. I'd definitely get one when I'm ready to say goodbye to my e90. The current 3 series is too big for someone who wants 4 doors but only has backseat passengers once a month.

Will it ride on a longer wheelbase I wonder though? The proportions and door sizes may look a little funny if on the current platform and BMW try and get some head room for the rear passengers!

the 320 *exists* only because BMW is all about keeping the crown for the midsize sport(y) sedan market in sales (3/4 vs C class vs Audi ) They never thought of a 2 series gran coupe because they so focused on, and thought they might lose some 3/4 sales. When the competition got close last year.. they hurried up a 320 to market to boost sales with some cheap lease prices. Don't blame buyers ... they just were looking for a compact sedan from BMW that ain't 50K. That car should have been on the lot for those buyers.. .... in the form of a 1 series sedan.. or 2 series gran coupe... The buyers that didn't bite on the 320, or... more importantly.. the part that BMW forgot.. BUYERS THAT WANT A COMPACT SEDAN, are now driving CLAs and Audi models that competitors brought out by reintroducing the compact sedan segment that BMW dominated with the E30, E36 and E46. Please, for the love of God, make a RWD 2-series GC...
...and then make an M version of it.

When i lived in Lafayette Indiana, 16 years ago, the local dealer didn't stock the full lineup when BMW had a total of about 8 models and didn't even make SAVS. That same dealer is still there with the same limited floor space. I could care less about an individual dealer issue. Dealers come in different sizes. All the Bmw dealerships in DFW have plenty of room for cars. Perhaps not in the showroom but certainly on the lot. This is hardly a reason to deny customers the vehicle they want. And if Bmw doesn't come out with additional models, they are only going to lose money to their competitors ( see CLA) Your argument is a TOTAL FAIL. |
