Dinan Stage 2
Just got my 235 back from the dealer for the Dinan stage 2 install. The power is amazing, I really haven't had a chance to open it up yet, but what an improvement! The sound from the exhaust and intake is amazing! I can really hear the air being sucked in and more turbo noise. My dealer gave me 15% off so it helped a little in the cost, but still expensive.

Good to know, as I am doing the Stage 1 for my 228i M Sport (N26) tomorrow.
I just looked at your Stage 2 for the M235 on the Dinan site...yowza, that ain't cheap! Worth every penny, I suspect. I wonder if your findings on engine sound output will apply to my tune, too; the 228i is not a notably great-sounding car, except at >4500k RPM, so an enhancement in this area would be an unexpected bonus. |

Still a piggyback system though, right? Looks that way from their website. Yes I understand their warranty backing, but I also wonder how long before they abandon these in favor of actual ECU flash since other folks have cracked the ECU already and it was always their preferred method prior to this generation when their hand was forced and they had to get to market.

It should make the 4cyl sound better, although I don't think it sounds that bad to begin with...my wife has a 328 wagon and I never noticed it sounding that horrible, except when it was 0 outside this winter.
My car is a lease so I'm looking to get some of my money back in 3 years when I turn the car in, I'm hoping dinan will hold their value more than the other brands. |

Did you get the dinan exhaust and intake, or just the stage2 tune? xdrive or RWD? i read a post on here saying a tune w the RWD makes the car overpowered and hard to control. How does the dinan bluetooth interface work? my interpretation was that you can toggle the tune on/off via your phone which if thats the case, I would order it today. thanks! |

You are supposed to be able to activate/deactivate the tune via Bluetooth. Not sure if this works via a dedicated device (a dongle, for example) or via a smartphone app. Can anyone advise?

Just saw a nice blue M235 getting a Dinan Stage 2 tune at the BMW performance shop in Glendale CA where I dropped my 228i M Sport off for its Stage 1. How are you doing with yours, daveg?

The increase in power and sound is amazing. The pull from 60-80 is very hard and extremely fast. I have noticed when you just floor it off the line there is a noticble lag then it kicks in very hard and stays. I'm not sure if the lag was always there and I've never noticed it because the power was less?? But I have also not tried launch control yet, this may solve that issue.

So I used launch control and did a 0-50 today, no lag, it launches amazing. I didn't have my phone so I couldn't use the lap timer, I try tomorrow and post my 0-60.

dinan has been advertising this feature forever and if you ask them about it they will tell you they have no idea if/when the app will ever be released... just another frustration i have with this company. plus, i agree with whoever posted that dinan is behind the times. the ecu was cracked in europe months ago and real flash tunes are now already available in the US. |

I can't imagine Dinan doing ecu flash with newer cars. if I've read correctly, all these flashes need to be bench flashed (can't imagine a BMW dealership ripping apart an ecu to flash it) I think Dinan more interested in having something that their dealer network can distribute easily. I would assume more money that way... but then again.. what do I know.. =\

Wouldn't something like this (article below) solidify a piggy-back solution vs. an ECU flash? If the car companies manage to somehow make this a reality...a flash solution is all of a sudden not viable. I admit I have limited knowledge in this area, but just a thought.
