I just can't even compare the two. IMHO they are two different markets. Not that there's anything wrong with the mustang.

But to stay on topic, I'd rather the P-exhaust than the LSD. (I'll never track it)

I think he's just throwing a (conservative) number around. BMW direct probably won't be the cheapest way to get an LSD.

But it will be the only way to maintain the piece of mind that only a factory warranty can offer

Depending upon who you order your aftermarket LSD through, you'll probably still get a warranty with it. BMW can't void your entire warranty just because you installed a diff.

And for reference, the US spec E82 was this way - folding seats, no center armrest, and a tray in the middle. Exactly the same as has been seen in photos of the US spec F22s.
The tray in the middle is such a fail since you have no rear cup holders without the arm rest and you can't even sit in the middle (not that you would want to). Poor design.

Some news from BMW customer relations, which were a great help!!

1. The Limited Slip Differential (LSD) is currently undergoing final development testing. We hope to have it available at launch, but cannot make this guarantee.

2. Pricing for the LSD is slated for release by the end of February.

3. The LSD will be a port installed option.

Hyundai Genesis Coupe V6 has more power, standard LSD and navigation for $10000 less than 235i. And to add insult to injury it weights about the same despite much larger dimensions. To paraphrase Metallica: "BMW, the thing that should not be".

Have you ever driven a Genesis Coupe? I have. It was kind of coarse in spots and reminded me of the now-revered muscle cars of the 60s/70s - lots of power, but handling and detail needed some work.

Are BMWs over-priced? Probably. But I can't find another rear-wheel drive coupe on the market today that delivers on the driving experience I've found in their cars.

435i price is even more hilarious though, when equipped with stealer-installed LSD and GPS it costs about twice as much as Genesis.

And yes, I do enjoy an occasional troll post or two Let me be the first to welcome you to the Internets.

+1 Every time the end of the lease comes around, I go and drive things that might tempt me. And each time I come back. BMW is doing something right.

And I know the Stang and Camaro are great performance bargains, and have made significant strides in terms of interior quality and overall refinement. They are still cheesy to me. Faster? Yes. Cheaper? Yes? Still cheesy? Yes...

I am not going to make disparaging comments about the Hyundai - it is definitely an affordable alternative. I just wouldn't be interested in one - and I have looked.

I prefer the austere nature of the BMW, compared to the very Japanese Genersis, 370Z, Speed 6, etc...those cars aren't for me, and that's a taste thing.

You are never going to get much traction here for comparing dollars and options in a direct nature. I cannot speak for the M235, since mine is on a boat and I haven't driven it yet - but I can speak for the other BMWs that I have owned, which is 4 and counting. There is something different, it is innate and not measurable, and it really is best described as "feeling". Some people like it, some don't.

I like it enough to buy a car, sight unseen and never having driven it. That is based on past experiences. For my respective demographic, they are clearly doing something right.

You'd lose your mind if you knew what I paid for a mechanical watch that runs about +2s a month. Sometimes it's not about specification.

I do know that it's not in the same place or more than one day. This is BMWNA doing sales knowledge training.

First take was none of the greys on the car match. The mirrors are the lightest grey, then rims, then the back section. Light to dark in order. Is quite roomy on the inside and I'm 6'1". They kept talking about how much more room was inside then the 1's (I can't compare them as I've never been in a 1) but it didn't feel much smaller then my 335is and actually felt like a bit more headroom. But I may be wrong.

I'm 6'6. My biggest worry is I won't fit comfortably in the car and that's the only reason I'm hesitant in ordering one right now.

It was beat up because it was a proto at one point. Swirl sticker residue and lines all over the thing and it was filthy. Like I said, sales training so they weren't trying to impress much. BTW, this site is priceless. I knew more than the guy giving the presentation ;-) Thanks to all here who contribute and manage this site
