I'm averaging 20.5mpg with a little over 5k miles. AT

Better than my 135i which saw 18mpg.

Overall, I'm satisfied. I drive my cars like I stole them usually. Too much fun :

I'm averaging 21.1 MPG over my last 10 fuel-ups. Definitely happy about that as I averaged 22.5 MPG in my old boring FWD CVT transmission Audi A4.

Here are all my fuel ups so far with this car...

After about 1200 miles I am averaging around 22 with mostly city stop and go traffic in my 228i. It goes way up on the highway! Have gotten as high as 36 mpg on 100 mile trips on 55-65 mph secondary roads.

I'll check back in now that I have a few thousand miles on the car (mid 4000's I think).

I moved much further from work since I bought the car, so I'm driving a lot more now. My commute is about 30% town/twisties and 70% freeway. I cruise around 80-85mph and am very spirited in the twisties. Combined economy for the past few months since I reset last is right around 25mpg (24.8 to 25.1). Considering how heavy my foot is, I consider that a victory. The car I came from (2012 Focus hatch) would average around the mid 22's for similar driving, so I got a MUCH more fun car with better fuel economy.

Not sure if I'm being paranoid but the car's computer says I'm getting 18mpg. Weird because my older 128i was at 22. I've only had this car for just over a week though but time will tell lol.

Averaged 21.9 MPG for a pretty consistent mix of driving: freeway cruising on the commute, hard street driving, and slow/defensive driving when the dog is in the car.

After Stage 1 tune from Active Autowerke, I'm actually averaging about 23 MPG.

As with all such discussions, the variance is so high and the number of actual data points so low that it is hard to learn much. Current official MPG from the BWMUSA site is 35 for the 230 2-wheeler (highest) and 30 for the 240x (lowest). As BMW notes, actual mileage may be lower. It is almost always lower.
What I find most interesting is how many people have responded to this thread, given its minimal value, including me! The long and the short of it is that, unless your actual mileage is way below the official figures, like half, you are doing OK. You will not get anywhere near the official numbers, though, unless you drive VERY CAREFULLY. In which case, you gotta wonder why you bought this car.

At 32.3 mpg since new, I'm getting 15% over the highway estimate of 28 mpg. The car has impressed me in this regard.

Most of my driving has been on the highway at 68-73 mph. I save fast driving for the race track - driving fast on the street is pretty tame in comparison.

Are all of these numbers just what is showing on your car readout, or from actually doing the calc? I average about 25.5 combined according to the car, but it is always about 2.5 mpg HIGHER than what I calculate by hand. Always around 22.5 to 23.5 by calculation.

My 32.3 mpg since new comes from doing the calculation.

LMFAOOO is it really only Floridians who drive around on 0? I will let the last bar on my gauge start flashing before I'm like damn I should get gas. Saves weight 🤣
