I should apologize to the Bimmerpost community. In trying to respond to a person that I find condescending to other members and completely unreasonable I have engaged in an embarrassing public display.

Im cross shopping the 235i and the GT...I would instantly go with the 235i if it were four door. In as crazy as it sounds there are many performance enthusiast cross shopping these cars. Ive already test driven the 235 and it was amazing. You guys that own them have really good cars.

When the Mustang comes out Im going to test drive them back to back and decide on which one puts a bigger smile on my face. I've been disappointed in the constant stream of bad news from Ford in regards to the stats.....In the end it may come down to something as simple as which one has the bigger back seat. I want and need an M4 but I wont allow myself to spend M4 type of money.

This thread got outa hand real quick. But let's be honest, can you really compare a mustang to and BMW? Like really? I don't think so. Ever!

Of course you cant but in the end you sacrifice something you want in either direction you go...There are no perfect cars.

If you can't handle the threads here, just skip them.
Because those people are looking at maybe buying a Mustang and want to compare it to REAL WORLD CARS that EXIST. We are here in a forum of people interested in the 2 series and have been subjected to multiple threads regarding a car that does NOT exist.

If someone came on here giving their impressions of both cars after having driven them back to back, that's great. I think all car guys love to hear the impressions of another car enthusiast, but the car is not available, so what are they providing to THIS community? Nothing. If we wanted specs, we would go seek them. But we aren't very interested in the new Mustang, have mentioned in the original thread that we don't see ourselves cross shopping them, and then were met with the wild comments about how we simply don't konw what we're talking about - just look at the paper specs! The Mustang is obviously superior!

And you know what? I don't think the majority of people are bothered by someone comparing a Mustang with a 2 series or that they are comparing a car that doesn't exist to one that does, but I think everyone is bothered by the arrogance of people like tw3rkn, aka the Miley Cyrus of 2addicts.com, to jump all over people who disagree with her. You come to a 2 series forum and expect everyone to agree that the Mustang is a better car, when you have nothing to base your opinion on? You're out of your mind.

That said. What are the chances Ford is conducting an information warfare marketing attack on Bimmerpost? Multiple different people, most of them with join dates within the last year, pushing for comparisons of the new 2015 Mustang. When one thread dies down, a new one starts up from a "different" member. M235 vs. EB, M4 vs. GT...Coincidence? I think not. OK, so this is kind of in jest. But it sure seems like a clever tactic. The seeds of doubt planted in the heads of Bimmer drivers. How many Mustang test drives would it yield?

Just a funny thought I had.
I'm not intending any kind of offense with this, but I swear that you're stoned whenever I read your posts. Could be the avatar.

I've stayed out of all the recent comparison talk. Someone made a good point that it really is a tapped-out subject without any kind of first-hand impression or professional critique to resort to. I still believe that they're comparable cars, now more than ever, although the Mustang sits between the 2 and 4 Series when we're talking wheelbase, and its track is wider than both.

Here's a large reason why these cars are far more comparable than they ever used to be:

1) The Mustang ditched that dated, bloated retro look for something more forward-looking and Euro derived.
2) They ditched the antiquated SRA, which allows for a huge trickle-down effect for suspension tuning.
3) Its interior isn't a pile of d*cks anymore. It's not special by any means, but it should be able to check off the requirements for most people.
4) A 2.3L twin-scroll I4 making relatively comparable levels of power and twist. Looking at the bigger picture, when it's paired with the new S550 chassis, the Mustang now has a 52/48 weight distribution, compared to 54/46 for the outgoing model (isn't that new dist. in-line with the M235i's?).

I would have entertained it had it been available when I bought my 228i. I test drove a bunch of cars.. FRS/BRZ, Genesis Coupe, A3, A5, TT, 370Z, Focus ST, CLA250 and IS350 before deciding on the 228i. The IS350 and BRZ were very close to winning but I decided I didn't want 4 doors and the backseat on the BRZ was simply unusable. I'm an enthusiast and based on my past car history, I'm not married to any brand.

I think this really boils down to people wanting to say their choice of car compares to a car with some of the best current reviews on the market. If the car can't speak for itself, forum warriors are ready to take its place.

You choose the 228i over the IS350. may I ask what your decision was based on? I like the 350 a lot.
