It's alright news. I can't buy a concept car and I can't afford an M4 GTS. I will be spectating, rather than saying there's my next car unfortunately.

True...but if it DOES happen to be the M2, the "concept" should be really really close to the production model. And if that's the case, well you (and everyone else) will have a really good idea of what the car is going to look like when it starts showing up this spring.

I'm hoping BMW follows Fords SVT/R/RS release approach to some degree. I would honestly be surprised if we don't see something at Pebble. The hype is built but has become relatively stagnant to the non "forum obsessed M enthusiast". I believe we will see the M4 GTS, some hint at a CSL heritage similar to the future M2 concept CSL, and at least an M2 teaser or full concept reveal. I realize they are far behind Ford in terms of timing but truly believe something big is coming. Possibly a full packaged M fleet deal, displayed along side some of BMW's best from the past. After all, Ford is the competition and they've done one hell of a job.
Side note; the GT350 is incredible in person. I saw one among dualing last gen Ford GT's in the Pirelli World Challenge Paddock at Mid-Ohio. |

When you think of the development of a car with the CSL badge on it, the first thing that should pop up in your mind is "money." The CSL badge is worth money because any car it goes on will attract money. Just like the M badge attracts money. How, then, is BMW going to get the most money out of the CSL badge?
My guess is they'll create a subset of M cars, CSL M cars. The M3/M4 CSL, the M6 CSL, the X5m CSL, of course, the M2 CSL, and so on . Which comes first? The one with the highest cumulative profit margin. My guess is the M3/M4 versions. |

I guess that track enthusiasts are prepared to pay Cayman GT4 money for a watered down, real life version of the BMW GT6 Vision Concept.

I think you've got this backwards... Ford has set their sights on BMW M3/M4 with the Mustang. Pretty much all the head to head reviews of the E90 M3 and the Mustang came back that the Mustang is fun but not refined and not there yet but getting closer.. I Sincerely doubt that BMW is looking over their shoulder at Ford across the pond when there are challengers from Mercedes, Porsche, and Audi right in their own backyard. next you will tell me they are worried about the next Mitsu evo.. |

I guess the tides have changed. Comparing an the e92 m3 vs larger NA v8 strapped to a car with little refinement was easy. Today the comparisons seem to favor the domestic fellows, Especially ford. You would have thought the world was ending based on the fiesta ST reviews. The answer was no longer miata but fiesta. I know that has little relevance to BMW M. But we now have a flat plane crank, balanced chassis and a high revving wall poster of a mustang to compete with. Honestly the M4 has more rivals coming from the U.S. than Germany. The ats-v, cts-v, gt350/350r, hell even the c7. I will admit the M2 has more German rivals, but that doesn't take away any focus on the U.S. If they aren't worried, they should be. I hope they are, and I genuinely cannot wait for this damn release. It's driving me insane. |

If they had dropped an NA V8 in there, I'd agree. But with the V6 getting criticism, I think they missed a good opportunity. Shame because the chassis is world class
