I feel the same now. Months back I said if BMW made this I would try to get it. I'm in!

Even if it was electric as hinted by the edrive comment?
It's not electric dude. There will most likely be an advanced zero lag e turbo within the drive train.

If you're referring the comment below by SCOTT26, it can sometimes be difficult to interpret his comments so my original thoughts were that it was not in reference to an M2 CSL but rather the 3.0 CSL Hommage, especially considering the inspiration that was derived from the E9 CSL and the parallels that were drawn between the Hommage and the E9 CSL.

Now, if it was in reference to an M2 CSL, then all hope is definitely not lost. Look at what is achievable with electric/hybrid technology, e.g. Porsche 918. Put some similar, and economically relative, technology into an M2 CSL and, yes, I would still buy one. I think the key phrases were, "Motorsport innovation" and "a variation of eDrive to enhance performance".

Perhaps SCOTT26 can clarify what his comments were in reference to.

That means a variation of an eDrive drivetrain designed to enhance performance whilst also showcasing sustainability.

This render of the M2 rear part by forum fellow jcrb might be more realistic.

What I meant was that back in history the CSL E9 brought its Motorsport innovation to the road. It parallels with what M are going to do to enhance the more hardcore M versions from the standard cars.
Today in general the innovation field has increased immensely as is the ever important journey to enhance performance but increase sustainability.
We are at the time where an M car with eDrive is inevitable. It won't be the M2 but an M car using some form of sustainable technology is coming.

Thanks SCOTT26, although, I'm not sure if I need to further read between the lines. So, does that mean eDrive won't be in the M2 but eDrive could/will be in the M2 CSL?

Get it the M4 rear view mirrors and paint it in the hope-you-like-it blue, Adem1534.

How do you figure? The G30 M5 has a 4.4l V8. The V8, any V8, is "contra" sustainable technology, i.e., it sucks a lot of gas.
When you get right down to it, the term "Sustainable Technology", has no meaning. Instead, it's a euphemism for an obsequious subservience to emission standards.

Adem1534, take a look at two details of the X40 M40i.

1. The mini fangs: "The stretched, powerful lines of this Sports Activity Coupe are further emphasized in the new BMW X4 M40i with selectively applied Ferric Gray metallic accents, that clearly sets this vehicle apart from the other BMW X4 models. For example, the exterior mirrors as well as the vertical slats of the famous BMW kidney grille are painted in exclusive Ferric Gray metallic. The same color also adorns the new aero design element in the large air intakes located on the far outer edges of the front apron." (source).

2. The location of the reflectors: horizontally right under the upper line

Compare with the M3/M4: horizontally right under the upper line

As well as with the X5 M and X6 M: vertically right next to the side line

Yes,Scott26 already confirmed that the rear reflectors on the M2 would be in a similar location on the bumper, where they are on the M3 and M4.

I remember that. It's just that it looks that the upper line (with reflectors featuring under it) is higher on the M2 than on the M3/M4.
