Well we're all paying for these awesome #firstworld problems. But if you go sit in a base model 5, and then sit in the M235, the interior is basically the same. Same features, same layout/arrangements, everything. I was playing around with it and couldn't find many distinguishable/luxury elements my M235 doesn't have. They are definitely pretty comparable.

What were you expecting in the 5, whale foreskin seats? A 2series is a smaller BMW, but it is still a BMW.

As said before all a question of options:
Take the 5 series with all the options, individual leather etc. and you get a car that feels and drives much higher spec than what you can get in the 2. But take a base 5 series and the difference will be much smaller. |

Worst loaner: A Nissan Murano when I had a 370z. Not even worth critiquing. Best loaner: Can't really think of one that knocked my socks off. I'd have to say the Cooper S 'vert I got while waiting for aftermarket bits to be installed on a new '06 Hardtop. The first-gen 'vert was a fun ride.

Yah, I had a decently optioned 328i as a loaner not too long ago. I noted key trim and function differences in another thread ... and I wasn't impressed compared to my M-Sport at all. The 3-series' steering wheel has a thin rim, and the diameter was H-U-G-E. Makes me appreciate the M wheel -- which I feel is still a tad on the thin side, but the proportions are much better -- more than I already do.

I don't see the 2-series as a cheap BMW in the way that a CLA is a cheap Mercedes. It is a more sporting version of the 3/4-series, not a cheaper one (and it isn't really cheaper anyway). Until you get into the much higher end trims, the 5 is just a bigger 3.

We still had a lot of fun in it (much more than the Golf at Porsche *lol*) but it's clear that going from a 620 hp Supecar to a Fiat is quite a bigger difference than going from a M235i to a 320i. |

As a frequent customer of the BMW warranty program I've had the following:
X1 328i 320i 328d 128i 535i i3 The only one that I really didn't enjoy was the diesel. Weirdly I expected it to be more torquey. The 535i was probably my favorite. It was a M-sport that had pretty much every feature. How this made it in the loaner fleet, no idea, but my gain. |

The three series I had as a loaner smelled like a fart mixed with rose smelling perfume. The radio was on hip hop station and the seat was moved all the way forward with the seat as vertical as it would go....The air conditioning was on high on a 30 degree day.
I have no clue what happened in that car before I got it but I dont want to know.. |

So my car wasn't fixed properly and went back in the next day after I got it. They gave me a 228 loaner. Now this car is actually nice to drive/fun/pretty quick. I will shut up now.
