Harsh Ride

Recently traded in my 2011 M3 for a certified 2015 M235i. As my DD, I enjoy the smaller size, torque, cup holders and warranty. What I am unhappy about is the bouncy harsh lively ride quality.

I have a fully track prepped E36 that I would rather drive on bumpy roads over the F22. The magnetic suspension in my E92 actually made a difference based on the setting. I find very little discernible difference between comfort, sport and sport +. The rebound on the mag shocks makes for a harsh ride. I can handle firm.

Any solutions?

Yea the damping is really "off" on these cars, rear is extremely under-damped. It's one of the reasons I decided to use full coilovers..

They're not "mag" shocks, though. They are a valve based shock/strut just like most OEM's. Mag ride is usually for $80k+ cars, new. Probably would have made the F22 too good if they used them, lol

are you running run flats? stiff sidewall can make the ride quite a bit more stiff compared to air.

Thanks for the replies, any suggestions on spring rates for coilovers?

Yep, these cars have terrible valving from factory. Dinan sells shorter ones from some E-series car, but won't help you.

I'm not sure why, but it seems like spring rates are kept as secrets from what I've seen, although I haven't checked too hard and could be wrong.

The KW Clubsports come with linear Front 457 lbs/inch, Rear 685 lbs/inch springs/rates. I'm running them with 50lbs lighter Swift springs. Hope that helps
