Yes, panic button is on the keyfob. I actually have a pretty no-frills M235, the only extra options I purchased was the HK sound system and black kidney grilles, no packages. I suspect the presence of an alarm system is due to build date? I picked up my car in mid-august.
Start of MY2016 228i build was 7.15.15 we were 7.21.15,

I've had it for years in all BMW's it really seems lacking when you don't have it anymore. Going to see if any simple recourse at this point.

I was under the impression it was a standard feature only for 2016 235's, and on 228's it was still an optional feature....

Same thing here, it was supposed to be included for sure but oh well....I am not sure I want to make a fuss about it but kind of a slight bummer on our early production 16's. And BMW ordered a delivery stop on the cars that were accidentally built without satellite radio, your dealer will know about this at least if you have them look up service bulletins.

The dealer is able to install the software to fix the issues, they are installing my SAT radio and also alarm this Wed since I brought it to their attention

This^^

It's only for M235s which explains the price hike for 2016 MY which also includes CA, dimming mirrors, along with a few other premium pack goodies.

Not that the configurator is always right, but I thought that maybe you were right about the 228. If you look at standard features for the 228, it is there. Furthermore, it is not even listed as an option for the 228. I'd be curious as to the real answer as I'm not convinced that it is an option on the 228, and that it should be standard.

Is the SAT radio supposed to be standard for all 2 series or was it an option?

Sure enough it IS supposed to be there! On the 228i listed as standard equipment under safety and security it shows anti theft alarm system.

As far as I am concerned it is an error one way or another, standard equipment means just that, standard and not apart of an order or option it IS included.

But.....since it was not I am starting with the Service Dept since they have the direct line to the answer I would assume. I really think there is a prewire, we get a new key fob, they reprogram the computer and were done, will post my answer when it comes my way tomorrow.

There was a slight price hike for the 228i as well, which was the exact same amount that the alarm had cost during the model year prior. I work at a dealership so it shouldn't be a problem for them to install it at some point but seems like something I'll put off for a while as I wanna drive it any moment I can!

It's apart of the Premium Package, which I did get but they somehow forgot about the SAT.

Oh okay, thanks for clearing that up. I didn't get the premium package but they gave me a code for free SAT radio trial.

^ Nice! I love SAT. I'm not sure if this is common, but I'm just curious how so many things could be forgotten during the built

Hey all, update after my visit today. The SA is aware of the missing standard alarm and said there has not been a bulletin from BMW NA yet, he also mention unlike the 2015 models - 2016 cannot be retrofitted. The next step is to reach out to BMW NA and see where to escalate the matter. Bummerrrr.

I've had the Chirp headlights flash, alarm system for so long now on 5 different BMWs it really sucks and feels inferior not to have it anymore, see it listed as standard equipment online, on the build screen at the dealer and its not there. Even 2 car payments wouldn't matter.
